Default JWT Clutch rattle-anyone?

can anyone expand on this? I read that this particular clutch setup is loud. How is the life on this setup? I'm not going to be racing my car but do have mild bolt ons. I want a strong, quiet clutch that can take some abuse. Anyone with sound clips?

From what i have read up on this site, Quiet is not JWT's forte, the clutch chatter is loud for alot of people to stand so depending on your level of tolerance i guess.

JWT is a quality clutch and many people on this forum have it and our extremely happy with it.

The JWT flywheel is what causes the gear-chatter.

it's really not that bad. Only time mine got really loud on me was when i was at the track and did a couple of runs. I think my clutch fluid/tranny was super hot or something.

I have the clutch and love it! I have the stock flywheel though. This clutch has a lot of bite and feels a lot like the stock clutch in all other respects. I was able to get the car (stock) to not only chirp into third but also fourth and now that I am FI it really makes the car feel great (It now smokes tires going into second, spins going into third and still chirps into 4th).

OK, I don't want to start a new thread but I have some questions about this rattle with the JWT Clutch and Flywheel. I have had this setup for 10k+ miles now and have gotten used to the normal rattle below 2k rpm. It was installed by the dealer when my transmission was replaced under warranty. I recently noticed another type of rattle (more like a loud tapping) that happens when driving about 3k+ rpm and seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle. It is more noticeable in gears 1, 3, and 5, and when my ac is on and windows up. I have been to the dealer once for this and they have blamed the Flywheel for this noise but I am not convinced. Does anyone else have any info on this? Maybe it might be engine related?

Most light weight clutchs and fly wheels rattle, part of the beast. The factory flywheel has a dual mass inertial dampening system that absorbs the vibratiomions and make it quite. Once you make the flywheel ridged with less mass the harmonics and vibrations tend to rattle the the drive line a bit.

The harmonics of the Flywheel is why each setup rattles at diffrent RPM's. If you get the revs up then the harmonic balance is disrupted and the rattling stops. Its that magic little window that determines how anoying and loud a set up is.
