240z VQ Swap
Hey Guys,
I recently purchased a 350z as a daily driver so Ive been hanging around on this board reading up as I slowly mod it... but I thought I would share my other Z car with you guys..
Ive been working on my vq swap into my 240z. The car is a 1971 240z that I restored from the ground up and originally ran a L28et engine in. I had around 450rwhp with 26psi and methanol injection (remember this is oldskewl technology). The car was featured on tunerzine and also in turbo mag with the l28 engine.
Tunerzine:

After I blew the turbo (again) I decided it was time to try something new and decided to drop in the vq35, not only because its the new z motor.. but because its lightweight and will be a great match for my car on the track.
I ended up finding a complete drop out for a really good deal... the engine came from a car that was wrecked on a dealer test drive and had only 300 miles on it total. this thing is CLEAN!!!
Anyway here are some pictures of the car before the swap:
And the vq35de as it sits right now:
I hope to have the car finished this summer since I just got done with the semester I should have some more time on my hands.
Anyway I do all my own work and have a blast doing it, if you wanna read more check out my website:

Hope you enjoy!

If I had a 240z I would want it to look exactly like yours. That thing is so perfect. flawless build, good luck with the car.

Thanks for the compliments guys.. the car isn't finished yet but I think it will be very balanced since Ive dropped some weight and moved the engine back alot compared the the heavy and long cast iron straight six. It was basically a straight line machine before and was quite a handful to drive. It would pull like a freight train for as long as you had the ballz to old the pedal down. I never took it over 160mph though.
As for the "mg" beside it thats my dad's triumph tr6. He likes to keep them stock , but if i could get my hands on it that crappy British engine would be out in a heart beat lol.
Anyway thanks for the taking the time to check out my car guys. Im keeping track of the build here for those interested:
