So I took my car in for the 5th gear grind last week and I got it back today but I didn't get a new revised tranny. Instead, my dealership actually dropped the tranny, cracked it open, and replaced a bunch of the parts on the inside. What the deuce? I thought Nissan didn't repair transmissions and just replaced them with the new 009 variant? I want a new revised tranny!

They gave me the same line of ****, but be firm that you want the gearbox replaced.

My 2004.5 has this problem with 5th gear, is this a recall or just a bad tranny? How much did it cost you btw?

It won't grind if my RPM's are low, only when they are high 3k+, is this the same issue with anyone else?

Mine did a replacement due to the fact that when they take it all apart and repair they could just swap for a new one quicker. I didn't even want a new tranny just the grind fixed. They called and said they were replacing the tranny.

is this a tsb somewhere? I have an 03 with same issue 30k miles will i have to pay or dealer take care of it

It was covered under my extended warranty. I actually had to take it in a few times before they reproduced it and acknowledged there was a problem. The service manager said they would have to strip it down to see what the problem was to see if it would be covered by warranty. I brought it in and after a week and a bit, they had stripped it down and replaced a bunch of parts. I was hoping they would just give me a new revised tranny like what everybody else seemed to get.
