Default When To Change Plugs

I just read the whole thread on the new Pulstar plugs or what ever they are called and someone asked this question but no one answered it.

So when should you change your plugs? I am thinking that with over 50k on my car I am way past due.

on the manual, it says your stocks are good to about 90k to 100k miles...

if you decide to change it, I would go with iridiums over those pulstars...

Thanks for the quick reply. My car just seems like is clogged. Thinking that may be a problem. I actually have 80k on the car.

not necessarily plugs. Check your MAF recently?

Do you mean clean it?

I can disconnect it from the intake and take a look?

What should I look for?

i meant check as in are you sure its still good. an MAF on its way out can do the same thing and unless youre burning oil or something like that, the plugs should still be a great shape. maybe you know someone with a z that you can swap the MAF with to check.

I changed my plugs just recently when my car hit 50k. They did not look bad, but they did not look great either, so I am glad I did. I noticed the car felt better when I drove it.

Bottom line: Why not change your plugs? Its not too hard and you'll be glad you did

I think it would probably be a good idea to get some new plugs...can't hurt right?

I used to know a few guys with the car but all have disappeared.

If the MAF is bad, how would I replace it? Would I need to go to the dealer for that?

its just two torx screws that hold it down, easy to change. but if youre getting plugs anyway do that, an MAF can be expensive

I'd do copper. They need to be changed more frequently than iridiums, but nothing conducts a spark better than copper...

oh ya, probly should have noted gothchick's comment and said that they (coppers) are also a lot cheaper, like a set for the price of 1-2 iridiums or platinums. 30 a plug is a rob job, you can get them a bunch cheaper than that

edit: no ive never heard of laser plasma plugs, sounds like snake oil

PLFR4A-11: 22401-Z33001
PLFR5A-11(STD): 22401-Z33002
PLFR6A-11: 22401-Z33003

those are the numbers for one step hotter and one step colder along with the obviously standard ones

just ask the parts store folks for NGK iridiums.

Iridiums last longer than copper - if you dont want to drop the extra money, just get copper and change them more often. Up to you.

They are like $7 each or something iirc.

Autozone didnt stock them, so I called napa. The first Napa I called did not stock them either, but there is a bigger store nearby that I called and they did have them in stock.

Yeah...the lady told me Laser Plasma...she said they were comparable to Denso...I think she was trying to take me for the proverbial ride.

I have basic bolt ons and the AAM flash. I probably don't need to go colder but is there any reason why I would possibly want to go one higher?
