Calling all 6mt Rev-Up Engine Owners..
I just bought my 2006 RevUp, and will be having the oil consumption checked soon. I went into it knowing of the possibly OC problem, but i still bought it... figure I can rebuild the engine to solve the problem.
I bought my 06 used with 20k miles. At 30k miles I started noticing the oil light come on right before my next oil change. The engine OC'ed so I had the the engine replaced at 40k miles. 3k miles on the new motor and its doing the same thing.
The V1 would go thru a quart of oil in less than 1000 miles. The V2 in it now ive noticed so far 3/4 of a quart in less than 1500 miles after oil change.
If I knew the V2 would do the same thing I would have bought a 07-08 Z in the first place.

Heh, there's more than a few. Purchasing a Rev-Up is a big gamble. If I would purchase a 350z I would definitely go with the 07+. The only thing is I like the g35 more. Decisions... Decisions... Good luck to all those who are having bad luck with their engines.

My 06 was losing 1 quart every 1000 miles, now I'm losing 1 quart every 3000, after the block was replaced by Nissan... I've got about 49K miles on the Z. About 8K since the block was replaced.
I had mine replaced at about 28k for OC. v2 has about 3500 miles on it and no problems so far. I would have looked for a different model year if I knew about the problem. I bought my 06 used in early 07.

That makes me think Nissan doesn't really have a handle on the issue at all. I was originally told that the problem was with the rings. Seems like a ring problem wouldn't be so hit and miss.
I have 22,000 miles, and ZERO oil consumption.
Oil change intervals are 6,000 miles with Motul. 5 quarts in/ 5 quarts out.
I think with 06 revups its kind of a coin flip, you either have a bad batch or you don't

No problems here and i have 36k...BTW if you have oil consumption big deal you get a brand new engine with no miles and an extension on your warranty. Shi* I was a little disappointed when I found out that my engine wasnt consuming oil.

as for the original question, no i would not have bought my 06 if i knew the headaches i would go through. i am getting a new engine next week and had to go through 2 months of BS including 3 different dealers to get it solved. the network of nissan dealers is what i have been so disappointed with--i have worked at dealers for the last 7 years and have never been so unimpressed with a brand as a whole. nissan really needs to step in and get better training/procedures for thier dealers.
i bought this car to mod, and having a garage full of new parts is tearing the *** out of me. i should have bought an 07
I dont believe the redline is a big problem or a big part of the cause. Its only like 400 rpm more than the non rev ups anyway.
To test this out, last friday I went to Nissan and had a OC test done, my mechanic topped off the oil and told me to come back in a 1000 miles. I havent raced my car or driven it hard over 6000 rpms over the past few day. Just from home to work and back home. Today is wednesday, not even an entire week yet the oil is about 1/4 down the stick already and about 400 miles since my mechanic topped it off.
Oil is definately getting into the combustion chambers very slowly. You can tell by the exhaust time and at idle the car stumbles/misfires a little bit. Something it didnt do when the engine was in the break in process.
