The VQ37HR in the G has a taller deck and a longer stroke. I wonder if the stroke to rod ratio in the VQ37HR is the same as the VQ35HR?

I wonder if it's too early to determine whether or not the VQ35HR engines are going to have the oil consumption issue. This engine comes in the 2007-2008 350z, and the 2007 G35 Sedan. The new G37 is also questionable.
Seems like Nissan/Infiniti are infamous with oil consumption issues.
I really wanted a G35 since day one. I can't believe the engine was awarded top 10 engines for all those years. They must have tested the automatic only.

I had a '06 MT ZR with 3 different engines. Had enough - did a buyback and got a '08 MT ZR 900 below invoice. I would'nt waste my time on a '06 MT if I had to do it all over again. There's fantastic deals on '07's and others if you do your homework. Make sure you read this thread:

they could move the wrist pin, but that might permit more oil consumption. i would imagine that they used the 40 crank/rods, but used a diff piston all together.
i am prolly wrong though and have 0 technical information to back this up.

Yeah, I would be hesitant modifying a rev-up G35/350z. I would most likely keep it stock for a while until I can get a read of the oil consumption pattern.
