News to date. 9/15/03... I was away so thanks for the patience. We are still testing and working out a few minor issues with the piggyback. It is running great in the cars that it is installed in. The slow downs that have occured are due to Nissan changing the ECU in the cars that were built after 10/02. I am not sure if you are aware of it but their are already 4 different ECU's out. This is what we are researching right now and causing the slow down. I want to release this product as much as you all want it but we just want to make sure we have it perfect for everycar out their. I will keep you informed as we receive more info. Once again, thanks for your patience and consideration...

I'm curious as to how this pig will work with my mods....
Injen intake, Crawford plenum, B&B headers (not yet ), lsdunique cat-bypass pipes, Borla True Dual.
And later down the road cams from Tomei or Crane Cams.
I hope it won't run too lean or anything.
Wishful thinking. Wishful thinking.

And... any one else know anything about this?
I wonder if the A/F ratios changed between chips...

the changes are minor...
but the newer version ECUs are preventing the engine going into safe mode when it senses lateral Gs and the throttle body hits hits shock limit.. hence you heard stories of people racing and all of a sudden the engine goes into failsafe mode...
but... TSI knew about that in June.. i posted that info long ago.. ppl just dont want to read thru the entire thread....
i am still waiting to see a base line dyno on a stock Z...

I bought my Z last November. Are these changes enough for me to try to get my ECU replaced? Is there a faster generation out there? Man...Maybe everyone is right...Never buy a first year car. The ECU is evolving, and the radio is better (I think).

unless you plan on doing heavy tracking (when the TB sensor typically kinks out) there is no real need to an ecu update from the dealer...
however, if you plan on upgrading your ecu program via reflash, technos always updates their ecu programs with the latest version from nissan to incorporate their latest changes along with their own ecu modification...

There's a dyno on Jason's car in the very first post. Don't think an ECU has been mounted on a bone-stock car, to my knowledge, for the reasons Jason stated above. My car hasn't (and it doesn't look like it will) been on the dyno; I haven't had the time plus the car is being sold. But it's not putting out 0-2 HP; it would not have remained on my car if there was no gain from the ECU.

Just wanted to touch base with everyone and wanted to thank the serious buyers for being patient. The SMT6 has been delayed for a little do to some other (non ecu) problems with my car. My car has to be put back to near stock to have Nissan look at it. Thats all I can say right now. This is also a part time job for me as my full time job has me traveling alot. I promise to all my fellow Z enthusuasts that a great product with + gains will be released in the future. Thanks for all the patience and interest in our products.....
