Default What is that "ticking" sound?..

I can hear a ticking sound when I accelerate especially in first and second gear. Is this the tranny "chatter" or whatever I've read about or is this something with my suspension or axles because it occurs when my car jerks, especially in low gears because of the torque. Its not that loud and literally sounds like a tick on a clock, something I should be worried about or no?

My 08 makes a tick/squeek in lower gears during acceleration. Havent had time to take it in, but I assume it is the rear axle.

I have an 03 Enthusiast, I still need to take it in for inspection, I can only hear it when I have my windows down though. I still need to put pictures up but I need to get my girlfriends camera first ha. And another question does anyone slip when shifting out of first at higher RPM's close to redline, because I've pushed my car a few times now and a quick shift out of first after I chirp below my tach it say's "Slip" and I lose significant power for about a second or two then it kicks back in, I find it pretty annoying but I think I might be able to fix it with some new tires just wondering if anyone else gets the same issue

thats your traction control its cutting the power because the whole point of it is to maintain traction. simply hit the traction control button on the bottom left side dash. a TCS OFF or VDS OFF light should come up under the tach and then you can do this:

Thank you guys for the help I really appreciate it, and I really feel like an idiot with the TCS question and I have ONE MORE

There is a light coming on, on the bottom left side of my dash I believe it has to do with tire pressure but I don't have any owners manual so I cant tell it looks like this

(->.<-)

an enclosed "oval" with two arrows pointing at a dot in the middle, that picture actually looks pretty close haha

if it looks similar to this one its your tire pressure warning light...

use your gauge on your dash to switch to TPS tire pressuring mode and see what numbers come up

The same thing happens to me, but when I turn off the VDC on my '04 Track the "Slip" light doesn't come on when I accelerate.

thats because you're disabling traction control when you hit the button, and the SLIP only comes on when traction control is kicking in and distributing/cutting power

Starting to get real annoyed, real fast. I just went to the mall with my Z and it was raining, on the way there I had no problems the car drove great. But on the way back I was about halfway home on the highway when I was cruising in 6th gear at about 60mph I went to pass someone and dropped it into 4th and started to accelerate it felt like the traction control kicked in because I lost power so I just stayed behind the guy in 6th until my exit. As I got off my exit I put it in 1st at a yield sign and started to accelerate, as soon as I hit 2500RPM it feels as if my car is red lining and it wont go beyond 2500RPM in ANY gear. Does anyone know what this problem is? Because it seems pretty serious to me unless for some reason 350's do this when it rains for a safety feature but I highly doubt that.

three things:
1. if your engine is bogging down when you downshift your timing/clutch balance is off
2. also, maybe you were hydroplaning and you actually were hitting your rev limiter but only going like 20
3. if you're starting to drive on flat dry road and you cant go past 2500 RPM (though extremely doubtful that it is actually doing that), your tranny is retarded and probably about to fail. but that doesnt make sense. if you're doing this when you burning our and peeling out around turns, the odds are you actually are bouncing the rev limiter and not realizing it. the RPMs get up there really quick....

don't know what it is, it might be something with my fuel pump, when i drove it later in the day it worked fine then randomly for about 30 seconds it did the same thing but this time it wouldn't rev past 4500 RPMS its confusing, and annoying im going to get it looked at when i get the car inspected

My gauge isnt recording any numbers, it just stays at all 0's. I'm thinking I might have a bad sensor or is there something i need to do for the gauge to read the pressure?

You have to be moving to read tire pressures. Quoting the owner's manual, "The low tire pressure warning system will activate only when the vehicle is driven at speeds above 20 MPH."
