Question Reverse getting stuck!!

Hi guys! sometimes my reverse gear gets stuck. I push down the stick and try to engage reverse and it doesnt go in. At times I have to engage and disengage first or second gear first before I try engaging reverse. I dont know what could be causing the problem. Any of you had this before?

^^ …Not sure what’s going on here…

Question: What year is your Z?

Comment: The problem you describe isn’t something I’ve seen reported by other Z owners. But, in my experience this sounds very bad. I had the same problem with my Saab 9-5, and the fix was a transmission replacement.

2006 z. I'm due this weekend for oil change and my 15k service so I will ask the tech about my problem. The real problem is trying to get those morons to listen because if you can't replicate the problem while they are testing the car, they will just ignore it....

This happens to me sometimes. But like you said, it's hard to replicate for a tech. Whatever you do, don't force it in there, sometimes I wait a few seconds and it eases into reverse.

There is no syncrho(s) for reverse--this may be the reason? dunno, maybe try a different kind of trans fluid?

you are correct! I will mention it to the tech tomorrow and I will let you guys know how this turns out, in case someone in the future runs a search on this very same topic....

So, how'd it turn out? Cuz my '03 just started giving me this problem today. See, here I was being all ignant and swearing up and down that it was a synchro problem, not knowing that there is no synchro for reverse (LOL in otherwords, I pwned myself and made myself sound like a noob). Anywho, anybody know any way to fix it that doesnt require techies at the stealership? cuz I bought my '03 second hand and I don't have a warranty = FAIL ...
