It does sound as though you need a transmission-replacement.

Question: What year is your Z?

Just shift into reverse first then into third... You wont even notice the grinding in third after that. One loud sound then silence from your tranny from there on out.

Also, check your headlight fluid and muffler bearings.

My tires make a loud noise and wear funny on the inside. Someone told me I have feathers in my tires. How do I get those fixed...and why whould they put feathers in my tires? Do they make it lighter?

Back to the original question…

You also mention in a later post that you have a 2003 model Z.

It’s obvious that you have the defective transmission and need the new transmission that Nissan provides at no charge to owners who are still under the 5-year/60K drive-train warranty.

You are possibly (probably?) outside this warranty.

I would check first to see if you qualify for the transmission-replacement. Of course you will want to fight hard for this. Do a Search here, print the relative messages, take these to the dealer, and try to get your new transmission. The new transmission is much better in every way.

Good luck to you, and I hope you prevail.

check your back hatch for a rattling noise, the previous owners of Z's are good spirited and have been known to leave a few pennies lying around back there.

Ignore all responses you received here except for response #16.

I think the abuse here was because a Search would provide the answer to your question. That is what the guys here are telling you.
