Default Need Mechanical help ASAP!!

Alright, thank you in advance for anyone looking....

Here is what happened. I was working on the DIY: Belt replacement. Piece of cake. Everything went great until I got to the tension adjuster bolt on the Alternator pulley. It was REALLY on there. It was tighter than the bolt holding the pulley. So instead of being smart and figuring something out, I tried to power it loose, and snapped the head off.

So I can't loosen the tension at all, or anything. I need to get my belts replaced, and obviously i need this tension bolt replaced..... My question is, how intricate is this piece? Do I need to replace the whole pulley/bolt/bracket or is there just a tenson bolt I can replace seeing I can drill the old one out.

I took it to the stealership and they said " oh we gotta charge you a little over 100 dollars to diagnose it. I said that I just told you wtf was wrong with it, you don't need to diagnose anything. They refused to help me or give me a cost estimate without first " diagnosing it"

Any help is appreciated guys. Thanks

You can just get the bolt from the dealer i think nut i had to buy the tensioner cause the bearing went bad.It is not hard to replace.

Thanks alot bro. I am gonna go to Nissan tommorow and ask for the bolt. I'll just dremel the old one out. Glad to hear its an easy fix. I'll keep the thread posted when I fix it!

How easy is it to get the tension pulley off? It looks like it just comes off when you undo the bolt that holds it in place. Is there more to it or is it as simple as it sounds?

Did you loosen the nuts on the pulleys first. They lock the pulley and tensioner adjuster down. You can break the bolt trying to adjust the tension without first unlocking the mechanism by loosening the nuts.

+1, i bet he didnt loosen the 14mm nut 1st.

good luck trying to dremel it off.

Make sure you cut your old belt off 1st otherwise all that tension on the pulley will never let that bolt loosen easily.

Nah I did loosen the 14mm bolt first. I know for sure because I have a huge cut on my hand from when it finally loosened, my hand slipped and wacked off something and I started bleeding

But yeah I made sure both 14mm bolts were loosened before I attempted to adjust the tensioner.....
