900 miles and it's down this much. Keep in mind it was a little bit over the H when Nissan checked when the OC test was started.

Should I be concerned? Note the darkness

Be concerned. Oil shouldn't even drop that much with 9000 miles, let alone 900.

I am fully aware of the 182+ page mess thread, but I don't have a rev-up, just the standard 287hp VQ.

I just wanted to know if dropping that much was indeed bad - warranty is up in June 09.

Darryl

Thanks for the answers.

Darryl,

To be honest with you, I can't even see where the oil is on the dipstick. You may want to retake the shot with the camera set in MACRO mode instead. Since you said that you are fully aware of the OC thread. Can you tell me how many MM have you consume?

Went out to the garage and took another shot. I don't have a measuring tape so I can't say exactly in mm's it's down. HOWEVER, according to the oil consumption sheet I have here for the 350Z, I assume it's down 1/3 quart or roughly 8mm

Darryl,

Has the dealer started the OC test on the car? If not take it in tomorrow and have them to start documenting your OC. According to the dealers TSB 8MM down from H at 1000 miles = FAIL!

You need to get this done ASAP! Before your warranty runs out in June or you'll be paying $8,000 - $9,000 out of pocket.

Yep, 1000 miles ago they started documenting the oil consumption. So it's on record and hopefully there won't be any BS because it's an American car. I will contact NNA Monday and start a file.

Sorry to hear about your transmission man. Ya, just measured it.

Exactly 7 1/2 mm down at 1130 miles tonight. Maybe I have a secret revup guinea pig engine in my 2004 lol.

Every time I have my oil changed by nissan it's always a 1/4 low. The oil capacity is 4.7L which is an odd amount. I suspect they are just eyeballing the .7L and really you're getting a half liter or less when they fill it. After I bring my car home I let it sit for 30 mins and check the dip stick and I almost always have to add a 1/4 of a liter to top it off properly.

So chances are that some of that "consumption" is the fact that they didn't fill the car up properly in the first place (time consuming) and that you are having some oil burning issues.

On another note, when taking a picture of something small or when you need to focus closely on an object, put your camera into the mode with the Flower (macro) and it will focus on whatever is closer (dipstick) not farther away (floor) and you will get a clear picture we can actually see.

Regards,

Nissan doesn't do my oil changes. I have my shop do it. I been monitoring my dip stick since it's change and day one of the change Nissan started the OC test. It was even a little past the H line.

Oh, btw, I did use macro.
