Default Transmission

Ok, heres the deal. I have been searching on here for someone with the same issue and I cant seem to find the subject I am looking for. The issue with mine is when I shift from 2nd to 3rd. If I dont pause between gears I wind up grinding the gear. I thought I saw a thread on here about this but I cant find it. Is this a common problem? Mine is a '03 Touring, manual tranny obviously.

It happens to my car too, usually when the tranny is cold. In a nutshell, its most likely a bad syncro that needs to be replaced.

Hello and welcome.

The transmission problem you describe is well-documented. You can read a lot about this by searching this sub-forum.

The fix is replacing the transmission (probably not what you want to hear).

So its a problem with the synchronizer. My options are replace the tranny for 3500, live with slow-shifting 3rd, or spending 2500 to fix MY tranny? I will take slow shifting till my tranny completely gives out for 100 Alex.

"Fixing" the tranny will not help. The only real fix is a complete swap. Best advice is to keep an eye out for a used CD009 (latest Revision) and jump on one when you find a good deal. I got mine with installation for $750.

The drive train classifieds are the best place to start.
