Don't know if you guys had seen this, but Impul has a new ECU out for the Z. It doesn't give specifics as to how much hp it gives, but it does give specifics on price. $1476.71! For that mauch I better be getting 500 additional hp.:P

If you guys take a look in hyper rev, there's around 25 different companies that have ECU's out for the Z. I dont think they're compatible though with hte US spec Z.

Yeah, theyre makign around 5-10 hp...but the main advanatage that all these ECU's are going for is raised rev limiter, negating the feedback loop. and raising the top speed.

True, Matix, that there are several other ECUs available for the Z, but many of the other ECUs cost less than $1400. Also, I think the J-Spec ECUs will work on our cars. I had a JUN ECU for my Type R and that was J-Spec and it worked fine on that car. Also, the Mugen ECU is completely J-Spec and many Honda tuners put the Mugen ECU in their cars. I guess the real way to find out is to buy one.

Any takers?

The J-Spec ECU's wont work since the Z's ecu is specific for the key. You can't just buy the ECU and install it because your key wont work to start the car.

You can get that disabled. My Type R had a key specific code as well, but I had it disabled when I got the JUN ECU.

You might as well just get the technosquare ECU, it does the same thing as the others.

cbsuper: so how did u disable the key/code? i want to try JDM ECU too!!

i think the $14XX cost on impul ECU should be a complete ECU replacement unit...not just to reflash/reprogram it.

like Amuse, they charge around $600 for reprogramming the stock ECU
and Mines charge $14xx for a complete programmed ECU

the ECU itself already cost around $800 rite?...from the dealer

it does the same thing for double the price and also requires modification to get it to work on your car, and im not even sure how to disable the key specific function.

please stop comparing this to your type R its a different type of ecu so things arent the same, the RSX is actually a better comparison because they are both flash memory but it is stilla totally different type of ecu.

I'm not saying I'm going to buy this ECU. I've already paid +$1300 for a JDM ECU before and I don't think I want to pay that kind of money again.

However, I don't see how you can say there is a difference in ECUs because they're two different cars. No matter what the car, the ECU basically performs the same functions which is engine management.

As for disabling the key code, if you have a reprogrammable ECU then you can have the function taken out, which you would have to if you're going to do an ECU replacement. I think even TS was offering the same type of deal for its ECU for some customers.

As far as the Impul ECU, it is a complete replacement, which is why it does cost so much.
