Imagine you had a two liter soda bottle and a measuring sick. If you put the stick in the bottle, and pull it back out, and the stick is only half wet... guess how much soda you have left. Same principle. (... thats what she said...?)

 

 

I had a new longblock put into my 04.5 for oil consumption at 58,900 miles.....Juuuuuust shy of my powertrain warranty ending lol. Doesnt stuff just work out perfect!

25k on the new block and shes drinking the same amount of oil as the last engine.

 

Bummer. How much were you burning?

ROFL...great thread all around. It's simply hilarious that Nissan created a dipstick measurement chart, when its near impossible to constistenly check oil on the OEM dipstick. It's a crap shoot, even under perfect conditions.

You state that you were told you lost 17mm which is equal to a quart, but your chart definitely says that 17mm is a little under 3/4 of a quart. Don't know how much of a difference that would make...Just an observation
