Default Next mod...

Looking for your opinions (hey that doesn't happen often!).

I'm eventually planning to go FI with my Z - But I also want to start working towards a little bit of power. The idea is to not buy anything that I might replace (headers and intake are out of the question). Currently I have a cat-back exhaust on the car but that's it. I'm trying to decide between high-flow cats or getting a piggy-back ECU (Looking at the Osiris unit w/ Cipher). Which do you thing would be the best bang for my buck? I know I probably won't get much out of either of them, but if I'm going FI, I know I'll at least use the high-flow cats. Would the piggy-back be completely useless after I was boosted? (I'm not looking for to go much higher than 400whp).

Anyone here that can testify to the Osiris unit being a good buy, or is there a piggy back that's better? The high-flow cats I am looking at are the Berk Tech. ones, which seem to be pretty popular.. Do you have any other suggestions other than cats or a piggy back that I could go for?

Any and all input is appreciated, even if I don't agree

Spacer or go tranny/suspension first.

The 5/16" one? Will that add more hp than a reflash?

I already feel like the suspension is awesome - I know coilovers are going to make a huge difference (or will they?), but are they really worth the money at this point in time if I am not tracking my car?

EDIT: Just checked out AAM's spacer.. is that the one I'd want to go with?.. definitely looks promising.. maybe i'll pick that up AND something else

If you are going forced-induction then do forced-induction. Anything else is trivial.

HFCs are nice
Plenum spacer also very nice

I would get those and then if you want, get a tuning solution that you can use with the FI system you want. UTEC or Osiris might work well for your needs both before and after you go FI. Then start saving... FI gets expensive fast

Or start suspension, coilovers are great!

Just ordered 5/16" spacer and the MREV2. Going to get the Berk HFCs and a tuning solution next.. I'm not going to upgrade brakes or suspension until I go FI (I want to have a nice pillow if / when something goes wrong with boost anyway). So I'll be saving my *** off for awhile. Thanks for the input guys.

Good decisions.

Take a look at a Utec, it's cheaper and still offers great tuning for N/A and still for the 400hp you're looking for when you go F/I.

Acid, i honestly recommend for high altitude, which you and I are, save your money for FI. Any NA mod up here is down right worthless. I would recommend a few parts that will help you when you go FI, such as Haltech ECU (or other Tunable ECU) and a Full True Dual exhaust with test pipes. Headers will be a waste when you remove them for FI application.

Yeah bishop, I'm not looking to buy anything I'll be replacing when I go FI. I already have a decent (or what appears to be.. still need to find out wtf it is) cat-back. Won't be buying a true dual until all is said and done since I will probably lose power with it if I'm still NA. I'm not going to buy an intake or headers, but I'll probably buy the Berk HFC's since I'll use em when I'm boosted (pending the exhaust manifold etc). I know NA builds are lame at high altitude, but I just want something that will satisfy me a little bit for now. The ECU will be next, and I need to research them a little to see which one will be worth keeping for when I do go FI. The reason I bought the spacer and MREV2 is because I'll be keeping those as well for when I do get FI (not looking to set records with my car, just a mild boost).

The Osiris unit really sounds amazing, but it's really the only one I've given a good hard look at. I'll be looking into the UTEC unit but will probably just try and save for FI until I make a decision.

Thanks again guys
