New, The share your Super Charger/Boost problem thread!
I bought an ATI Pro Charger. I was billed like 3 weeks in advance and ended up like begging to get it delivered via numerous calls to the vendor.
Upon reciept I called and told the shop of choice I had the SC Kit.
It took them 3 days to call me back, I dropped off the car and they kept it a week and it appears like they dynoed it some 40+ times! I think but can't prove that they were gathering data for the manafacturer, I was even told this by them.
It took a week but I got my car, I drove it 50 miles and it blew oil all over my engine. I took it back and the same shop didn't want to touch it because the problem they created they tried to blame on me. So I went to Nissan like they asked and ruled out some issues and went back. They were very happy (the install shop) and sold me "9 lb pulley's" that I was told would be free! They are now being reffered to only as smaller pulley's cuz it's a crapshoot what boost you will get, I got 6.2 on the 7 lb kit. I was told the 9lb pulleys would "inclrease my low end." by the install shop and that I was a beta tester and the part was free, it wasn't they lied. Now it's been a second week and I have been to the shop 3 or 4 times and still don't have my car. I spent 4600 for the SC, 1900 on labor at the shop, more for the pulley's and now they want more to change my plugs that got fouled because of an improper install (my belief.) I took pics and can provide them to the court. I went out there and the vendor has changed the original part (modified it) per the install shop and it was just laying there with oil on it as my car baked in 100 degree weather again.
So now 8k roughly later, about 2 months from ordering (would have to check my CC bill) they still have my car , won't call me with updates, may have blown my engine and no one will assist me.
I have read of others having wierd stuff too like wrong hoses or brackets etc. Please share any other problems here or maybe I am the only one? If so then I lean towards the shop I chose. If you had a problem please relate your expeireince so I can see if it is a shop pattern.
Thanks.

Like I said earlier in the supercharger thread. It has to be the shop. You might even want to consider giving someone like Mike at altered atmosphere a call. they have done many of the ATI installs and from what i have read they have turned out flawless. Working perfect and happy customers.

I have talked to Mike at Altered and Doug at Crawford and heard the same thing thanks for the confirmation.
I am ready to go down tomorow with a camcorder and a witness and confiscate my car and take it elsewhere and send them the bill. Anyone down to go to Yuba City California that has a camcorder? Or do I just let them keep it every day sitting in the sun? They were most difnately going to call me today by 5pm and they didn't! Their word means nothing to me now.

After getting your car, you might have some recourse to deny charges to your CC because of services not rendered. I did this before, and got my money back over six months after the transaction.
Good luck.
Good luck.
good idea this is the type of input I need thanks. I think the proof would be on them to prove they *did* it right not vice versa as far as my CC goes? I called the install shop but I always get voicemail. I am taking this to the next level now, at first I was letting it ride thinking ATI would step in because it's their product but that doesn't seem to be the case, in fact their presence has ceased here since this incident. I am soooo frustrated I am ready to sell the entire car with rims, Stillen Kit blowe everything for what I owe on it and be done with it and them for good. I would then buy a 2004 with a TT.
Dude, it's not the ATI's fault that your install shop blows goats. I've never installed a SC in my life, but was able to do mine without too much trouble. Yeah, there was a bracket that was included that wasn't needed, and some of the hoses could've been longer, but all in all, I'd say that this is an excellent bolt on kit.
Don't give people the wrong idea about this kit because your install shop took you advantage of you.
ATI procharger kit gets two thumbs up from me.

get your car outta there...
deny charges on you CC to the shop... (not for the super charger / physical parts)
you can try to return the SC but i doubt you can do that...
and if your car is ****ed with a blown engine... thats your fault for wanting to put a super charger on it and taking it to that shop...
you can try to sue the shop but im sure they have some statement you may have signed when you dropped off the car that they are not liable for any damages known or unknown to be done by the shop...
so you may want to look at your paper work etc you got from them...
I highly doubt you just dropped off the car to install a 4500 dollar part for 1900 in labor and didnt sign anything...
and unfortunatly... that may hold up in court unless there is extreem negligence on their part... you may be awareded your labor fee back and tahts about it if the CC company cant get it back...

You should have your car looked at by a reputable independent shop that will give you an unbiased opinion on what's wrong with your car and what caused it. It may cost you a few bucks up front but untill then you have you don't have much ground to stand on. After that it should be pretty easy to take action against the culprit.

I believe that the shop would have to prove that they the job as per the contract/specs agreed upon. Then it is up to them to sue you for the money back... have another shop vouch for you in writing that such work hadn't been done or that they even caused you damage... should work easily in your favor.
Good luck.
He just said, your compression is low there is leaks come pick up your damn car." With a witness on the other line at my phone he admitted to exssive Dyno's w/o a signed waiver and said take it to court he don't care. He said compression is low in 2 cylinders and my "rings are shot." I need to call the BOR before I pick it up?
Did you not just have the compression checked twice before you took it back? Maybe you should have it checked again, by a 4th party.
Man, I hope things workout for you. All this sucks big time. Get it running strong agian soon!

Not sure if you need to call before or after, but BAR definitely needs to be called. And definitely needs to be taken the F outta there.
Call your CC ASAP about revoking funds, and then seek damages in court as deemed necessary.
Sorry to hear about this... I had dealt with a corrupt mechanic before too, and his sh*t stressed the hell out of me... I know how you feel, and I wish you luck.

Yeah, I have to wish you luck in this situation too, Max. Really, I know that you would be the one to let us know what is up with the procharger as far as from the strip. I am really dissappointed that we could not share in your joy of having the kit run successfully for you. Would have loved to hear your times and such.
This just plain sucks, wish there was a better way to weed out mechanics like this. Your car should be a publicity nightmare for them, which is good, cause they deserve it, lol.

publicly blast the shop.
put a sticky thread (im sure the mods will) up on this engine/performance forum.
go to every other car forum you visit and either copy or link to the thread.
You gotta make them pay for this.

Another "Two Thumbs Up" for ATI and especially Altered Atmosphere here. A great product and a very skillful and knowlegable shop. I have had NO problems and LOVE the new product.
Sorry to hear about your woes Max. I hope you get them to fix this up for you eventually.

Mike at Altered was great and so was Sue at ATI.
Today I picked up my car and we almost had to call the Sherrif's to get my car back becuase of a 5 ( I would have to count) page rant print out about this forum, my car etc etc that he called an "invoice" for a plug change and I refused to sign it. He called me an idiot in front of the UPS Man knowing my witness and I were taping everything, he called me a compulsive liar in front of my wife he told me to grow up he did everything but fix my car. He made a seperate invoice for plugs only so I could get my car back or else he was going to keep it. Then cost us another HOUR because my hood wouldn't close because of the new hard plastic part I told you about on page 44 and him and his mechanic spent 30 minutes grinding and poking under my hood to get the hood closed and I have pics and audio. This was 2 hours *after* he told me to "come get my damn car." In other words, he had not even fixed it a week later the hood wouldn't close. Now he says my car (in stock form) was problamatic before he touched it. Then he sells me more boost and Dyno's it admittely at least 7 times in stock form? I think something like 40 total before after?
WTF! Why would you Dyno a car 7 times (at least) in stock form that you thought had a problem then sell them smaller pulley's? I know he is reading this, if he spent more time fixing people's cars rather than call me a liar here and typing 5 page personal rant invoices maybe my hood would have closed a week later? I noticed he/they was logged on now too. Bottom line it's beyond this forum now it's a matter for the courts. His idiot and grow up statements show his intent. Now I am doing the legal stuff. Sandy at ATI thumbs up! Doug @ Crawford thumbs up! Nissan thumbs up! Mike @ Altered thumbs up! FFP, you decide for yourself form your own opinion, this is my first ammendment right to give my review of my experience there. I can prove everything I just wrote. I'll be around, thanks to those who have supported me.

Good luck on getting things sorted out!
Was this place an authorized ATI installer? It sounds like ATI has been more forthcoming with you than the place you had the work done.
I would not expect them to compensate for any work the shop screwed up, but you may be able to get a replacement Procharger kit from them. I'd also follow up with ATI about not supplying product to this particular installer anymore. They have to know as badly as your install was screwed up that rightfully earned bad press will follow. I'm sure they don't want their name associated with such press... especially if their product is as good as everyone else here is saying it is.
Also, as someone else has said, I'd get a follow up compression test. You said you had tested it prior to returning the car to the installer and, at that time, everything was fine. If you have that documented and can show now that the engine is FUBAR, you have more than enough to make a case against the installer for negligence.
