Default Getting new VQ Engine from the dealer.

Turns out my 06 did have that issue were it would waste oil. Anyways after bickering and making them hold up to the warranty, they decided to give me a 0 miles crate engine, i havent seen the engine and will have someone drop my z at the dealer since i have to work. Is there anyway i can find a serial number on my current engine to match the new one so i know they actually changed it?

Is this issue only on the 2005-06 models?

How common is it and what should I look for when I get mine? (FWIW I'll have an '04)

No i dont trust the guys at the dealers, because they keep trying to weasel out of everything. Well i got my car back on friday. I matched the S/N, so they did change it. i checked the oil and im going to keep records of it, time to break in the new engine. Oh ands they changed belts and i got a new clutch >=]. Car was pre owned and when i got it the first few days the clutch reeked.

I had my short block replaced due to "oil consumption" but my car is an 04.5 and I just think they prefer the easy route. LOL
