I would suggest trying the following products to see if they can help get your engine running better.

1. Pick up some Seafoam from your local auto parts store. Pour the recommended amount into your oil and drive about 50 or more miles with this stuff in you oil. Rev the car alot while driving. Change your oil right after this drive you don't want to leave it in the car as it thins the oil. This is a petroleum based product and can also be used in your gas tank. I used this on my dads acura Truck and after a 30 minute drive the ticking noise from his engine that was driving him crazy for months is gone and has not returned.

2. Get two bottles of Auto-RX, http://auto-rx.com/ Use it with regular Castrol oil per directions. Very highly praised product on BITOG for engine cleaning. Check out the website and see all the things it can do. Also helps engine seals to prevent oil leaking/burning.

3. Pick up some CRC MAF Cleaner, remove your maf sensor and clean per directions(replace air filter while you are at it)

4. Use Techron for a few gas fill ups to clean injectors.

5. Use synthetic oils, I really like German Castrol Syntec 0w-30. Its a Group IV synthetic and much thicker then most 30w oils. You can get it at Autozone only.
There's no such thing as a "Mechanic in a can".

Compression is the heart of life in that motor. If its up to spec then your problems lie in the fuel system/ignition system. If the block is not knocking, smoking or making terrible noises then its fine.

Serious tune-up. Spend some money on stuff like Coil packs, plugs, possibly all 02 sensors and maybe even a fuel injection service from a reputable shop. New engine fuel filter also.

These products are meant to clean not fix.

i wouldn't put seafoam in the crank case and drive it around. maybe put it in your oil and start the car for 5-10 minutes and then flush everything out with new oil.

Having driven my 90 Q45 for 19 years [next month] and 320,960 miles, only spending about $41,000 [$2160 per year average] in mainteances and repairs anything is possible.

Sure it blue smokes a little at cold start but runs fine after warmup and stopwatches 0.4 seconds better than new in quarter mile 14.8/97 [3rd transmission and ecu reprogram].

240SX's are known to go 200K and beyond.

My old '89 fastback has over 300k.

I have a little under 150,000 miles on my 149,194 to be exact. In the morning just on the start up I hear a little clatter but it goes away very quickly. The car idles a little off but I think its do to the ground wires from what I have read hear. On the HW I get about 26-28 mpg. Although I do notice that the torque is low. As of now I am going to do a few little mods but just to keep her running till the LSX V8 takes the 3.5 place.

I had a 1980 200SX with over 200k miles. Still ran strong when I gave her away. I cant see any reason why new Z cant do the same thing or better. YOu should do a full tune up ( including plugs, coilpack, etc and LUBS ( including diff fluid) and see how it goes.
