Default Clutch gone bad?

Hey guys,

My Z has over 60k miles and havnt had any problems until now.

Whenever i push the gas pedal all the way the tachometer(RPM) jumps about 2000 then comes back down to where it should be. It does it in all the gears. The only time it wont do it is when i SLOWLY push the gas all the way down.

Scenario: Im in 3rd gear, 3000rpm, gas it, jumps to 5300rpm then comes back down to 3500rpm and then seems normal after that.

I searched this topic and came up up with this guys post
https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...rpm-jumps.html

and it seems to be my problem. I just wanna make sure if its the clutch before i go pay someone to replace my clutch.

if it is my clutch, how long do you think it will last me? money is very tight(the holidays just passed). WHEN i do replace the clutch(if need be) what should i get, OEM clutch? performance?

Thanks.

It sounds like your clutch for sure. What kind of clutch you get depends on what u plan on doing with the car in the future. If u plan to stay NA then you will be able to get away with just changing the clutch disk and nothing else. If u plan on getting the car tuned with full boltons then maybe a lightweight flywheel and performance clutch is what you need.

What im tryin to say is the stock clutch is fully capable of handling all the power the Z stock could ever dish out....and a little more. If u wanna just get the car running right again and be reliable on the cheap, order the clutch disk online and mynismo.com and call the dealer and beg them to put it in cheap. DO NOT buy the clutch disk from the dealer, It will be twice the price.

Probably the most popular aftermarket performance clutch would be the JWT Flywheel/clutch combo...that is if u wanted to go that route instead.

I have the same exact problem. Mine has 58k, and I have been very good on the clutch. I made an appointment for Wed. to have it repaired by Nissan. I think I may buy the clutch disk. I have the same problem as this guy.. would you say I also would need to replace the flywheel? They said its a 6 hour job, anyone else have the repair and cost?
