Default Is my starter going out?

About a week ago when I crank my car it started to sound bad - metallic "clanking" and "grinding" noise for about one second before the car sounds/cranks normal and starts up.

So yesterday I was doing the same thing, and I wanted to test out my car's start for a bit. So I crank it after a night of sitting (so all cold), and yep same thing. I turn it off again and crank again, same thing. Metallic grinding/screaching noise . . . . etc.

Turn if off again. Crank again. This time the car wouldn't even crank. I blew a starter before and I know what it sounds like but I'm just a bit worried about the metallic sounds. Anyways it just made the silent whine and no crank.

So next I used the little clutch/gas pedal technique and started my car again . . . . then got some gas and came back. Shop has already ordered a new starter and I'm just checking on here to make sure it's a starter issue and not some weird *** problem with my motor/clutch/flywheel setup . . . . thanks

BTW car drives and boosts perfectly fine it's just the crank/starting that has issues or weird sounds.

Thanks

Bump help . . . .

This symptom seems to only be happening during cold starts. If my car is already been running for a while and I turn off then start few minutes later it is fine (or maybe just tiny bit of sound thats it).

Thanks guys.
