Tomorrow Im taking in my 06 for a checkup on the wonderful tranny whine that a lot of us see in cold weather. Car will whine and whistle in 3rd 4th and 5th gears when weather is cold and car isnt warmed up. Any advice on how I can get a fix out of them, besides them telling me its normal, or we couldnt reproduce the problem. Any service bulletins? thanks in advance

 

Is everyone sure that it is the tranny making the whine? Any chances it is the diff? Just throwing that out there.

 

Well if it is the diff it should still be fixed.

 

If its the tranny, its probably normal 3rd and 4th on mine or the worst. Been like that since the day i drove the new tranny home.

 

I have the same issue when it is started in the cold morning. But it goes away once the car warms up.

 

Did you go to the dealer for this? What were the results?

 

i switched the appt. to next week. Its been 50 degrees here in NY, and i dont need them telling me they cant reproduce. I want it to be freezing temps so that it really whines.

 

Cars make strange noises when cold. Doubtful that anyone troubleshoots a car when cold. In fact why are you driving a cold car?
