Rant: the withdrawal lever pivot pin...
While I was under the car tearing things apart, I can't help but to think how ridiculous it was having to do all that work just to change out a $5.98 dollar part. My slave cylinder gave out two weeks ago from today, I replaced it and it happened again the day after. So I suspected the withdrawal lever pivot pin, a $5.98 part, was broken. Sure enough, after dropping the tranny, the first thing that rolled out was the broken pin. I had to drill and used a retractor to take out the threaded part. On a brighter note, I find out the rear tranny mount was totally twisted and eff'ed, I had no idea how it could have gotten that way. So now the tranny and the Z is just sitting there waiting for a new mount, a $75 part, to come. This should really help the sloppiness that the tranny has lately. Some pic taken with the phone:

What year is your car? I thought 03 - 06 had a traditionally designed slave cylinder on the outside of the bellhousing with a clutch fork / lever that went through the bellhousing to operate the throwout bearing. Then 07 had a redesign that eliminated the clutch fork and moved the slave cylinder to the inside of the clutch bellhousing.
Meaning 03 - 06 had a clunky, leverage robbing, 50+ year old design that was reliable and easy to work on. Then 07 had a smoother, 'better', faster, more accurately operable design that was harder to work on.
Am I right or wrong? Based on your teardown, I figure you'd know!

ok wait, I think I get it now. Your slave cylinder is on the outside, but you have a problem with the ball pin that the clutch fork pivots on (which is inside the bell housing). How in the world did that break? Do you have a high force pressure plate or something? A part like that should be hardened, polished, and should last virtually forever. .... Then again, I guess anything mass produced could likely have some units with un-noticed metallurgy problems that cause them to crack, break, or somehow fail prematurely.
Anyways, I'm trying to learn from all your bolt turning in case I have to do it to my car or somebody elses someday. .. So let me know!

you're correct! My slave cylinder is outside but it is the pivot pin inside the tranny that broke! Apparently i'm not the only victim, if you do a search it had happened before. If you can grab the fork and move it in and out, the pin is broken. For future reference the part number is 30537-40P01

I know this thread is from last month but I'm having a issue with the pivot ball in thebackup trans I just picked up for my car.
I have a carbonetic twin disc clutch and my original trans (008) is in Michigan at my buddies shop awaiting a custom third gear, so we can't reference the pivot ball in that trans. Went to install the clutch fork and TOB from my original trans in the backup trans (003) and noticed that the pivot ball in the backup trans is much longer than the one in my other trans.
I can't remember if my carbonetic clutch came with a new shorter pivot ball and fork along with the TOB, so I guess my question is are there different length pivot ***** for different revisions of our trans??
EDIT:
Alright, I figured out that a different (longer) pivot ball and stamped steel clutch fork was part of the 03 and early 04 transmissions. Since my original trans is an 008 is has the shorter pivot ball and a much beefier cast clutch fork. So I now either have to use the old setup with the longer ball or the new setup and pick up a short pivot ball (since my other one is in michigan.
