Question Oil Filter Heak Sink ?

Saw this on Trucks! TV and saw it on this BMW website..

anyone have xperience with these??

something like a 20 degree drop??

To me, it seems as though the amount of heat that it is going to dissipate is negligable since it will be heat soaked very quickly. The oil filter on the car is also out of the way of air flow. If it drops the temps 5* I would be really suprised.

Go with some Redline Water Wetter instead, it is $6.00 a bottle and that bottle will work on 2 cars....

I would spend the money on an oil cooler if you think that you need it. While this probably does work in cars where the filter gets air, I doubt it would work in the Z with the plastic belly pan keeping air away from it. The big key to these things is making certain they have good contact with the filter and adequit air flow.
