Default question about 11.5 pistons?

I kno there a few companies that are selling 11.5 compression pistons for the 350z. I'm still debating on whether to go FI or stay n/a. If i do stay n/a, what would I expect after installing them? Would these pistons compliment some performance cams? Would i need forged rods and new vavle springs? Would excessive tuning and ecu programming be necessary? Would this higher compression bring more problems than goin FI? all input will be helpful...............thanx

New pistons are even less of a "bolt-on" modification than the cams. If you are going to replace the pistons you may was well have the engine balanced and blue printed, replace the rods and upgrade all of the fasteners. The reason being that new pistons will require new rigs. New rings will, at a minimum, require that you hone the cylinders so that the new rings can seat properly. This mean that you are back to the breakin stage.

ditto to the adbove, if you are gonna go that far to take the engine apart to put in new pistons, might as well rebuild a lot of it while you are at it. cause if you decide to do it later then it will be such a hassle.

If you're gonna get new pistons you should check to see if Total Seal makes any gapless rings for our engine. Plus get teflon buttons for the wristpins and if you don't get forged rods at least get some high grade bolts for them. There's lots of other things I usually do for bottom end rebuilds, but I don't know if they would apply on this particular motor.

If you want to be different and shell out ALOT of cash stay NA. The fact of the matter is that NA is alot more expensive and provides alot less return and is just as hard on the engine. I do however think a fast NA car is VERY respectable and VERY cool.

My philosophy is get the most for your money. That means turbo 99 times out of 100
