Default 06 Clutch Pedal Stick

i need some help diagnosing a problem that just started today with my 06 Z. Everything has been driving fine, just rolled over 40,000 miles. On my way back from lunch today my clutch pedal began to fail to return after a shift. It's shifting fine, and engaging fine, but right after i pull back off the 'spot' is where it's getting stuck... about an inch to go. any ideas? It feels almost just like a grease or lubricant issue? Thanks.

Im assuming you still have the drivetrain warranty? Take it to the dealer.

I have that same problem, but mine is heavily modded and hits the track every month. I just pop the clutch a couple times and it goes away, with the car in neutral of course.

Dude...I have an 06' and experienced this same issue for the first time today after getting off of the highway. I was lifting that clutch off of the floor the rest of the way home. I'm doing the same as you...searching around forums for a solution. I checked the master and slave and there are no leaks on mine. -Phil

you may not have leaks. but if your clutchline is giving out, it could cause the problem. if it is doing it while the car is hot, it is most probably the line.

well after my initial posting yesterday afternoon, I drove home... no problems. I stopped at nissan on the way home to ask them about it, and they basically told me it'd be $98 for a straight answer. F' those guys. I'm going to wait to see if it comes back and go from there. Sounds like i'll probably have to get some work done on it before too long, but i'm going to wait as long as possible. I might even get down there this weekend and try lubing some of the pedal pivots. I appreciate the replies.

i would go with the clutch line. its cheap and easy to replace if you have basic mechanical skills.

Replacing the clutch line with a stainless steel one and flushing the line out with some DOT4 fluid is the way to go if your master and slave cylinders aren't in need of replacement.

btw, search people.

Same thing happened to me on my 06, pushed teh clutch in and it failed to return. usualy it would happen after some driving, not right away..

So anyway, I bled the clutch really well and no more problems...suggest you try the same...good luck

+1 04 Base, same symptoms. Clutch sticks when revving up to high RPMs and releasing the pedal. VERY strong burning smell.

Here is another similar thread

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/119373

Is it normal to have a burning smell outside of the car after riding the clutch just a little bit (like going up hill or stop and go traffic) or is it a sign of the clutch failing soon?
I've owned 6spd cars all my life and never had any problems like that...

thats what i did for mine. i replaced the slave cylinder and clutch line to stainless steel and ran dot 4 fluid. but sometimes i still have my clutch pedal sticking. seems like theres still air pockets in my lines somewhere...

i even put back on the factory clutch line heat shield wrap on my stainless steel to have that extra help.

First thing you have to do is check the master and the slave for any leaks if they r good to go then move on to the clutch line and fluid. Dirty fluid can sometimes cause this symptoms as it may have accumulated moisture and once it heats up it evaporates and it air appears from the moisture been evaporated.

Just upgrade to a SS clutch line heat rap it and get some motul 600 racing fluid is like 15 to 20 bucks. On stock clutches that should do the trick. I have this issue but I have a carbonetics triple disc. Hope this helps and if I made any incorrect statement then please correct me.
