I have a 2004 base. My transmission has slowly gotten worse. I know the Z trannys are clunky and notchy, but I have a lot of trouble with mine sometimes. If I am driving normal, I don't really have any issues getting into gear, but if I am running it to redline and trying to shift quickly (mainly when drag racing), I have a hell of a time getting the gears to engage. Mainly from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. I am thinking my tranny is just beat up. The car has 64k on it. After owning this car for about a year, I have noticed that whomever had it before me didn't take good care of it. I'm thinking it was beaten up pretty bad and fluid never changed. I just changed the clutch/flywheel, installed SS clutch line and changed the tranny fluid and it didn't help at all. I was hoping it would at least a little. It only seems to be difficult when driving. If I am stationary, with the car running, clutch engaged, I can move the shifter into all the gears with no issues. The car would drive so much better if the gears would engage that easy when driving. Also, when I am driving it hard, if I try to force it into gear really hard, you can hear the syncros wine real quick before it engages into that gear. I get the same syncro noise when I try to downshift as well. What do you guys think? New tranny?
I am going to try to adjust the clutch pedal and hope that helps, but I don't think is going to. Thats about the last thing I was thinking of trying.
Appreciate any input!!
Thanks

I've got the same problem from 2nd to 3rd and sometimes 3rd to 4th, especially if I don't let the car warm up. I've heard others on this forum say it's the syncros. I just shift slow to extend my transmission life.
That's been happening to me lately also. I have 03. Except my problem is when i'm driving it hard and i shift from 4th to 5th. I can get it into 5th but it whines a little.
U guys have the old horrible tranny. You need to get it swapped out for the CD009. Although my 009 is now starting to do the high rpm grind going into 6th.
So I guess theres no solution...

I just adjusted my clutch pedal. It helped a little in the higher gears, but 1st to 2nd is still garbage. I think the syncro for 2nd is shot and the rest are close behind. I think I am going to get a remand' tranny. A buddy of mine can get me a really good price on one. I am assuming that since it is remand' it will have newer parts in it and won't be as likely to have all the issues that we are having.
