Default Bad MPG?

hey guys whats up, im really a rookie when it comes to cars and i thought it be best to come here and ask you guys about my gas mileage problem. as you all know, the Z has a 20 gallon tank, but from a fill up to when my car is almost completely empty, i get around 200 miles total. i dont do any hard driving whatsoever. its a bone stock automatic and i leave it on drive, i dont use the tiptronic. any idea why my mileage is so bad? by the way, the car is an 07 with 25k miles. thanks guys.

Show me the numbers, man. How much did you put it exactly and how many miles did you get - exactly. I can get as low as 16-17 MPG on my AT. Assuming 15 MPG (easier math), that should be at least 15 X 20 = 300 miles. So, if you drive hard (rev's above 3000 a lot), idle some, and not running the tank dry - you could easy get 250.

Do you look at the trip computer at all? It should tell you whether you have a real problem.

do you spend a lot of time in heavy traffic? or waiting at lights??

then again, 200 miles per tank is really really really low..
i thought i had really bad mileage when i got around 300 per tank..
mines an 07 base, MT though

whats your problem man? seriously, what is your problem? why not just move on with life and stop posting more than 16 posts a day on this site? if my thread bothers you that much why not just ignore it? ive searched the forums and no one has my issue where im getting 10 or less mpg and my tires are filled properly, i dont do short distance driving, i never "gun" it, and i leave it on "D' because its an automatic.

i would recommend to change oil, air filter, change spark plugs, flush coolant, make sure coil packs are good replace any if bad or dirty and for god sake make sure your tire pressure is good... DOING all of this should bring mpg right back up...
Also stop buying no name brand gas.. exxon, mobil or shell bp should help alot..
i always notice bad mpg with cheap gas my two cents...
You need to start tracking excatly how much gas you before and after fill up.. to know your excat numbers of mpg .. also keep rpm low, nothing over 3.5 rpm you should be good.. i hope this helps..

Thanks man. i just changed my oil, Royal Purple 5w30 with K&n oil filter.
i only use Shell's premium gas
Im using the K&N drop air filter
and my tires are 35 all around like the manual suggests

I never thought about the spark plugs but after only 25k miles??

I bought my car with 33,000 miles and I bought denso irdium plugs for a real good deal so I figures what the he'll let me check. When I saw the condition of my plugs I was happy I checked. I replace those with new ones and seen my mpg go up. If your able to check them than why not. Anything helps these days.

why not just take it to the dealer and let it be there problem, assuming the car is covered under warranty?

as mentioned, fill the car, take note of exactly how many gallons it takes, then keep track of how many miles you drive, and take note again of how many gallons it takes to fill up again...let us know what you come up with

this has been brought up before i think. We have 20 gallon tanks though. I've never been able to put more than about 17 in.
