Default Need Help: My 03 randomly dies after starting up.

My 03 has died 3 times on me today.

Let me give you a run down. I get in, turn the ignition to on, hear the fuel pump kick on and then I crank it over, it cranks over just fine, I watch the RPMs rise, then they fall to 0 and die, I do it again, this time, the RPMs rise and fall to nearly 0 and idle back up. At the same time, the Oil Pressure Guage seems to correspond with the RPMs, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

So far, I've cleaned the MAF sensor, unplugged and cleaned all the sensor connections around the intake, still doing it. I even got a SES light after I started unplugging things, after the manual reset, that's gone.

Car drives fine, I don't notice any power loss.

Any ideas guys?

Sounds exactly like what I had for the last six months, I swtiched out the Throttle Body and the problem went away.

Its a common issue in some older Z's and G's.

you could try cleaning the throttle body with a throttle body cleaner. the carbon will build up around the valve and cause sticking, which means that the valve cant open and close properly. if its not dirty u could have a problem with the throttle body position sensor

It has 61k on it. Everything about the car is solid from what I can tell.

Where would the Throttle Body and Sensor be exactly? I'm guessing where the intake tube connects to the plenum? I'm still new to the VQ's so pardon my asking.

EDIT: Okay, I know where the throttle body is at, I'm guessing the sensor is the black box on the outside it with the connector?

The sensor is probably fine, remove the throttle body from the plenum and clean the carbon from the brass colored throttle butterfly. You will need to preform the relearning procedure afterwards to set the idle.

what he said. the relearn procedure is.. remove positive battery cable for 5min, reattach and let car idle for 10 min. DO NOT DRIVE right away

u dont need to remove the throttle body if u dont want to. (u can do a better clean if u do. its not hard) just have somebody put their foot on the gas pedel, spray the cleaner in and wipe out the grim with a rag, if its thick use a toothbrush.
