Default VQ35DE Oil Filters

Why do different platforms that share the VQ35 call for different oil filters.

Like the 350Z vs. the I35 vs. Pathfinder

For example in a K&N oil filter the Z uses the HP-1008 and I35 uses HP-1010 which is a bigger oil filter.

Any idea on this?

Don't know. I personally go up to the nissan titan filters since I do long range oil changes with synthetic but its a personal preference.

On the eclipse nonturbo, 95-99 model, they share the same filter as a dodge viper, same size and everything.

You can use the bigger filters if you want.
