Default Dyno results - 2005 (non-rev up) 350z

Hi

Just been on a dyno and made 233 wheel hp and 242 wheel ft-lbs torque. I have the 2005 model (non-rev up version) so am quite pleased, especially the torque. My car is totally standard ..at the moment. Assuming approximately 16% transmission losses that works out at ~277.5bhp at the fly and ~288 ft-lbs torque at the fly. Very impressed with the torque. On the road my car does pull very hard low down the revs.

How do my wheel numbers compare to everyone else with a stock 2003-2005 350z who've been on a dyno?

My torque falls off higher up the rev range and am running fairly rich higher up so am thinking maybe a true dual exhaust and/or plenum spacer plus tune could be my next plan.

Matt

Your numbers look fine.

My 05 base...

This dyno was done right after an 03 (also a 6MT) Z got 234 on the same dyno. (So I don't think it was just a "happy" dyno.)

Mine's a 6 speed manual.. not a barbie lol. 250hp at the wheels is very good (almost as much as an HR). Is your car stock Z1NONLY?

I was thinking about a Motordyne 5/16" plenum spacer and Bassani TD exhaust (which comes with the X pipe I believe) ...I love the sound of it and hopefully with both spacer and exhaust will add another 10whp. Are Bassani exhausts a straight fit, no clamp or hanger problems - just bolts on where the stock exhaust was? Is it a good quality exhaust or would another exhaust be better?

Forget the spacer. Just get a true dual exhaust and a 100 shot and save the rest of your money for Turbo kit.

I've got the Bassani and yes, it's just a straight fit. Some guys have had trouble with rattling, but that can be gotten rid of. I've never had any rattle that I'm aware of and really enjoy the sound (maybe a little too much )

How was your car on the road after fitting it - did it rev more freely and pull harder or was it pretty much the same but just nice and loud ? Do they come with an X pipe? I think they've got quite a distinct sound which is why I like them.

I think it feels a lot more free. I haven't had it dynoed, but I think it feels stronger. I love the sound when I first start the car. It's not obnoxious under normal driving conditions, but when you stomp on it, it speaks up pretty well.

I had lightweight wheels at the time, but the only HP "mod" was a high-flow drop-in air filter. I now have some suspension mods but still no extra hp.

What kind of dyno? That seems to be one of the biggest differences

I hear the the Mustang Dyno is a heartbreaker and the Dyno Jet is a fluffer

My car has been dyno'd three times now. Two different dyno dynamic units and a "DYNOmite" AWD dyno set up for RWD.

I only pulled 237 and 239 on the others. But, other stock DE Z's were averaging lower same day, same dyno. 21x-22x range.

The other dydno dynamics pull was at ZdayZ, and that particular dyno was nicknamed the "Heartbreaker"

The day I did the Dunomite pull, there was an HR Z that pulled a 250.

Just came back from the Specialty Z to dyno my 05 Base and it hit 236 HP/231TQ 4th gear pull. A fifth gear pull was not done since the air/fuel ratio looked very lean so the fear of damaging the engine took precedence over another run.
Note this is a stock motor and I always run 91 so both the shop and I were both a little confused as to why it would run lean. Sebastian hooked up a lap-top and it did read a code:

P0430: Catalyst Efficiency below threshold (Bank 2).

Does anyone know what this means and if this could contribute to the engine running lean? Either way the fix looks like a tune to bring the mix to be on the rich side. Not what I wanted to hear due the $$$ involved so pretty pissed at the result but better safe than sorry. The LSD and oil cooler will have to wait.
