From my understanding that oil is designed for the VQ37. The internals of the VQ37 are supposed to be coated with some sort of material that creates a chemical attraction to the ester oil for inproved lubricity.

Personally I'm a supporter of Amsoil and use their products in all of my personal vehicles. We are using the Nissan ester oil in our 370Z though.

This is a new conventional oil with an ester additive in it, a common fatty-acid ester known as TMP (trimethylol propane C8/C10). There is also a lot to suggest that the oil uses some of Nissan's H-free DLC as a suspended additive in the oil. That might explain the insane price.

I still don't buy the need for this oil being attributed to the DLC coated buckets. The HR has H-fre DLC and doesn't have the ticking issue of the VHR. I think the VVEL system on the VHR has unique oil requirements and the new oil is designed primarily to address this.

I wouldn't bother with this expensive oil unless you own a 370Z and are having the TSB ticking noise. Mike Kojima has a large write-up about this on his 370Z website, www. 3 70 Z. com

Ok I guess I will just stick with amsoil so far its been good. My first oil change with it and it hasnt burned a drop in 1200 miles ! (driven a bit hard) if I use mobil 1 oil burns like crazy and castrol syntec it burns a bit usually around 500 miles weird..
