Default ARC V2 oil catch can drain direction

I sort of have an idea on how to drain the oil from the ARC V2 oil catch can, but i just wanted to confirm it before i go ahead and drain the oil out. How exactly do you drain the oil from it?

+1

I have the same catch can. I haven't drained it to-date. There's a few hoses on it, and it would be nice to know the exact way to drain it to minimize the amout of work that has to be done.

Let me know what you find out. Take pics if you can also...

The way I've been doing it is tipping it sideways using the arm it's attached to. I take off both hoses and let it drain into a ziplock bag.

So the 2 hoses on the passenger side of the can are what you detach? Which hose does the oil drain from? There's also a tiny little pipe on that side also, which has a rubber plug on it. What is that for?

The small clear rubber hose on that side is so you could check the amount of sludge collected and when it's time to empty out the can. The oil comes out mainly from the hole farthest from the front, but I just take both off to be sure.

Ah ha, thanks very much for the answer I've been looking for. So just to confirm, the oil drains from the clear rubber hose, which, is the furthest from the front, or through the crank case hole?

are you guys NA? If so, if you have to drain it, you've got a major issue going on

in the 3 years I had my ARC (v1), I never once had to take anything out of it

I don't know about any of the other guys, but I'm NA. I have no idea if it needs draining or not. I'd just like to know how when the time comes...

you'll should never have to, so don't worry about it If it fills up, yank the engine, time for a rebuild, at which point, the catch can is the least of your problems unfortunately

What kind of problems are associated with oil in the catch can? Mine gradually filled up about 1/2 in the duration of 7+ months. And it has now since stopped.

it's an indication of blow by, which generally has a root cause of worn, or wearing rings

if it was there, and somehow stopped, I can't answer what that might be, unless you changed the hose routing somehow in that time

No, i have never changed any hoses or what not. Always the same position since I installed the catch can. Could the blow also by caused by excess engine oil during oil change? Meaning 1/4 to 1/2 quart over standard.

I'd be surprised if that little excess oil caused that much accumulation, but anything is possible suppose
