Default Why does my throwout bearing keep going out?

I have competition clutch ironman the 6puck with competition clutch lightened flywheel. About 5000 miles ago, my throwout bearing went out. It started making metal to metal grrrr noise so I thought it was no big deal. Then it got so bad when i engage gears (right when the gears catch while releasing the clutch) it would do it 24/7 engaging the gears. Then the clutch would not release even when I relleased the clutch pedal so it would just burn the clutch when I am driving around (and the foul smell also). I replaced it with oem throwout bearing but now it is doing it again. The sound was there but not much, but now it is gradually growing and getting worse. What could be the problem? Does anyone else have this problem?

It looked terrible. The throwout bearing was broken in two and the ball bearings inside were rolling around in my clutch assembly. The little ***** were all over the place because the throwout bearing that held the little ***** in place busted open.

And no I don't sit at lights with the clutch in.

Pedal seems to be same as before the clutch install. The height or catch point inside the cabin was never adjusted or messed with from stock. Also it was bled to see if it makes any difference. None. What is FSM? Forgive my ignorance.

As far as faulty install. How hard could it be to install clutch and flywheel? Could it not be lined up properly?

its going out because you have a 6 puck clutch. try changing the clutch engagement point

it has nothing to do with the type of disk the clutch has ^

I would simply contact your vendor and or the manufacturer, and you can try either a new kit, or a different brand. I've never heard nor experienced any clutch kit from any maker with this issue

Might wanna make sure it is your t/o bearing. Could possibly the bearing on the input shaft of the transmission. I have seen this before and changed a few t/o bearings in the process of chasing down the sound. Just to give you a heads up.

Could the bearing on the input shaft of the tranny cause the t/o bearing to break? Or are you saying the sound is not t/o bearing and it could be the input shaft bearing? If the sound is coming from the i/s bearing, then why was the t/o bearing broken in half with the bearings rolling around?

Yeah but you also exploded it at the track with lots of power. Dont be shy...hehe.

Once you open it up, let me know how it looks.

WOW! I am glad to have found someone with the same symptoms. Once you figure it out, could you share what caused your problem and how your t/o bearing looks? Do you think it's the clutch problem or what? I know alot of people run competition clutches but no one has this problem. Anyone else running ironman 6puck stage 4 competition clutch out there?

THIS PROBLEM IS SOOOO ANNOYING!

If there was indeed improper installation of the clutch and flywheel, what could go wrong during the process? What i mean is, isn't clutch and flywheel install pretty straight forward? Do you have to align anything, torque specs? If you don't align the clutch, it won't even go in gears, so that can't be it. What could it be?
