I still ask the same ? why would the OP need a rebuild diff-pumpkin as it has no impact on the trans.

Your getting to specific to the transmission here. Obviously he wants to make the Auto trans perform better. Although the diff is not part of the transmission, it EFFECTS his transmission via shorter gear ratios, therefore quicker moving through 1-2-3, which is a problem with the auto seeing as how we only have 5 gears, and 3.2 f/d as opposed to the m/t's 3.5.

In fact, THE ONLY is shorter shift points. (the effect you feel anyway) When most speak of wanting to make their tranny better, usually anything that effects shifting and therefore pickup is prob included in this, seeing as how thats the overall point of beefing the tranny, right? To help with the car performance wise, not reliability wise?

OP - what did you mean by "you want to make the tranny better"?

I guess its subjective. To me, anything that effects the transmission is considered "making the auto tranny better." and giving the tranny closer shift points i consider "helping make the transmission perform better."

like clutch's & shift kits.
The basics are trans cooler and VB upgrade w/shift kit. Both make the AT more reliable by keeping fluid temps down.

The trans cooler disapates heat in the fluid to atmosphere and the VB upgrade w/shift kit decreases the time the transmission is "in between" gears which is when most of the heat is generated in the fluid.

stillen makes the vb upgrade as well. i have one and i am satisfied w/results. i would have to agree w/ the rest of the guys as far as trans cooler. those you can find anywhere, hell autozone carries universal ones.

the vb is an easy install but remember where your bolts go because they are different sizes, it helps to take pictures of what you are taking apart. 12 bolts and three wires or 1 wire hold the vb in place. gl w/ your upgrade.

hey guys, sorry for reviving a dead thread but...

I've got a customized VB upgrade and it works only @ WOT and upshifts. (i mean i can only feel the quicker shifts @ WOT)

Is it the same for GTM / Stillen???

No. It is very clear that shifts are crisper even daily driving at low rpm/throttle - you can feel every shift. Gear shifting is no longer transparent, not bad at low revs/throttle but not seamless. All depends on how much the line pressure was raised and what parts were modified... For example, I don't think any of the kits do anything for the 4-5 shift.

That's obviously not the right one considering it says it's for a 4-speed.
the one you want is the RE5R05A-HD2
