I have an aftermarket radio but its not that. you can tell its from the actual car. its not a loud whine but noticeable when the windows are up and at a high rpm. the higher the rpm goes the louder it gets. can it be the belts?

Manual or auto? Does it whine when you hit the gas while in park/neutral?

Sounds like it might be the gearbox. Mine had a very faint whine at 20k. Nissan replaced the transmission under warranty and now all I hear is the beautiful growl of the engine.

Check your tranny/differential fluids as well. Low fluids will also cause whining.

I have had this same problem. Trip to Jiffy Lube to top of the trans fluid fixed it.
