Someone help me with N2O Questions?
Explain to me the "shot"... ie... 50 Shot / 100 Shot etc...
I know a 375 shot will rip our engine apart... Is there any level that is safe?? I see that there is the orange car running a 50 shot and did some nice gains...
Would I have to worry about having someone install a nitrus kit on my car?
Would i have to worry about the dealer flipping on the warrenty side of things??
Will my car do that little mist burst of nitrus out the side??!?!?

When I first installed my nitrous system I had the 50 shot jets installed. It wasn't enough. I'm currently running 150 shot and it's great! Nice hard pull. Is there a safe shot to use? I personally think under 200rwhp is safe. This all depends on the a/f ratio of course just like any other FI car. Nitrous is no more unsafe to an engine then a turbo or supercharger. If it runs lean, it will blow!
Get a dyno after you install it and make sure the a/f is safe.
no, those advertised shot sizes are at the crank. So 50 shot is about 30-35rwhp and 150 is about 117rwhp...on a dyno.
Can someone screw up an install? Sure they could. However no different then someone not tightening all the lug nuts on a wheel too.

I too am wondering about the head hehe.. More importantly so a 100 shot would be a very safe and effective number.. Im more worried about reliability.. Now above a 75 shot is direct port right? Is that better and safer then wet/dry??? How hard is the install?? How much should it coast?? What kit would be best?? What is a window switch?? Arent new plugs needed?? How long does it take to install??
Iv got Milions of questions and would LOVE to talk to someone who has good useful knoladge on this subject..
Thanx and sorry for so many questions...

I thought 350zmotoring was shut down for a long time now...
the thing on my head is the Oakley Medusa mask..
go to an oakley store and try it on.. hehe
I wanna do this nitrus thing...

Did you buy this? Man, it's weird. Do you wear it in the Z? Kinda nutty.
As far as nitrous, go for it. I think Smithtown Nissan? found the limit of the motor and nitrous. You may try to call them up and ask them whats up. Maybe they have a liason to this board. I dunno.

Yes new plugs are needed. two steps colder is ideal although I am currently running one step. I will be switching to the denso two step soon.I know it is a super long thread but "The big bad nitrous post" is still out there. Granted it would take you more then a day to read it, all of this info is already on there but I don't mind contributing to this one from what I have learned from it.
I bought a MSD window switch but have yet to install it. You can program the window switch to come on and turn off at the rpm's that you desire. For example you don't want the nitrous to kick in coming out of the hole when mashing the gas but maybe around 3000 rpm. Then you might want it to cut off before redline like maybe 6200 rpm that way if you miss a gear nitrous isn't spraying and take the chance at blowing the motor if you hit the fuel cut off. My buddy 02trex has the same one and when he figures it out I'll have him install mine

Coils have three wires, black, white, and the signal wire that is a different color for each one. You will have to use a relay that will be grounded by the window swicth at the selected rpm window, the relay will power the ZEX box and boom! the car next to you reads your license plate
NX Express is the only company that rates their shot at the wheels. So for the most part a 50 shot of NX will gain pretty close to 50rwhp. I am not against Nitrous at all, but I would suggest a Direct Port setup, because I do feel that it creates the most even distribution to each cylinder. Thus one cylinder won't run leaner than another.
Also I can't stress how important it is to get the car dynoed to know your A/F ratio. Another important tool is a compression checker. I ran nitrous and then boost on my Prelude and would check the compression about every oil change. This may be excessive, but at least I would know well in advance if something was going bad.
I'm just waiting to see what comes out in terms of forced induction, but the more I look at it the more I'm starting to lean towards getting the basic bolt-ons: Intake, test pipes, Exhaust, Intake Plenum, Headers and then adding a 100 shot DP setup for the track. I'm pretty sure this would be good for 12's on slicks.

Carlitos, thanks for the info. It will be useful.
350_z, I totally agree with you about the dyno after jet installs. You bring up some good suggestions too. Direct port is the best but is just too involved for me although again, I do agree that it is the most effective way to spray. I also think you will be looking at very low 12's to high 11's with that setup you described. 02trex ran a 12.85 in a G35 which is heavier then the Z and that was with just 175 shot and no other mods at all. Getting into the low 11's is another story of course but I don't see why you couldn't hit the high 11's.
