Default Transmission fluid help!!

So last night I decided to change the fluid in my transmission. I have the manual transmission and everything I read said that the z uses 2.99 L or 3 1/8 quarts, so I got 3 L of Motul 300. Everything with the swap went well except that I emptied all three bottles of fluid and it never spilled back out. From what I read you were supposed to fill the tranny untill the fluid started to spill back out the fill hole. I had the car as level as possible so I don't think that was the problem, but I'm kind of at a loss at this point. I'd get another bottle of Motul but I have to have it shipped and it will take 3 days for it to get to me...not in time to dive my car for the weekend. Should I wait to drive untill I get the other bottle, or will the 3 L i put in be enough??

Reach in there and check with your finger, it might be just on the threshold. And keep in mind that when warmed up the fluid will expand somewhat.

Default This is from the manual...

The manual tranny requires 3-1/8 qts so I'm guessing you drained all of the fluid and your still a hair shy of 3 1/8 qts. The service manual states you should stick your finger in and feel the fluid just below the fill hole as suggested previously.

Off topic question:

Why is the auto like 8 quarts and the manual only 3??? They both seem to be about the same size... is this common?

Yes, most autos hold tons of that nasty fluid

The torque converter itself (depending on size) holds a couple quarts as well. My F-250 diesel transmission takes 14-15 qts

Torque converter, plus the auto has a cooling loop that goes forward to the radiator.

Since it operates hydraulically, rather than straight mechanical like the manual, it needs thinner pressurized fluid to work, and a lot of it, and it has to circulate it for cooling.

The fluid in the manual is simply for lubrication.
