Default Engine Noise- Help ME!!!

I love my 350Z. Drive a silver '04 Enthusiast- only has 34,000 miles. For several months now, everytime I start the engine it makes a shreiking noise. It happened one or two times before and when I took it to the dealership, the guy just sprayed some lubricant on my belts and said, no problem. It started happening each time I start the engine this past winter. If the engine is hot, it does not do this. However, I noticed recently that when I make a hart cut right and accelerate, the noise occurs. The warranty on my vehicle has expired, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Check your belts for cracks, if there, replace.

If there are no cracks, tighten the squealing belt, any specs you might need should be in the owners manual. If it starts again, make sure you tightened enough (don't overtighten). After that, replace the belt.

Easy job.

Thanks for your comment. I believe you might be just right- replacement might be the answer. However, are you referring to the timing belt or other belts? Timing belt is a bit harder to replace? is this something I can do myself?

The Z doesn't have a timing belt. It has a timing chain. And no, it wont be that. It's gonna be one of the 2 black belts, ones for the A/C, and one is for powersteering/alternator.

Since you mentioned it does it while you're steering, you might want to check the power steering belt. But if you have to replace them, you might as well replace both of them at the same time.

Here's a DIY on how to change your belt.

ya, it's the belts. They probably need replaced and definitely need to be re-tightened.

These cars should have a 7 year 70k mile warranty on them. If you're an 04 34k then you should have another year of warranty on it.
