The Nissan wont accept the GM signal but I have a plan in the works to remedy this situation.
Pulling out the Nissan CAN system would be too much of a PITA the EMC's BCM functions have too much control over the car to just simply remove. I mean things line Wipers, windows, horn, gauges, door locks, AC and heater, trunk latch, traction control, etc and all controlled through the CAN bus and nissan ECU. Get my point?
Doesn't the stock ECU get the rpm signal from the camshaft and crank angle sensors? I though it cross-referenced those two signals to detect misfire.

Nope. The ecu receives it's Tach signal from the Nissan injectors and cross-references the 6 injector pulses to get a tach signal. I wish it was the case of it only getting a signal from one wire though.

I know this is an older thread but I wanted to find out where you got this information. I searched through the entire owner's manual and was unable to find this information as you stated.

I am going to be using an Electromotive standalone soon so this info is useful to me.

Just thought I'd post pic of my completed build on your thread. Jksstar and Quamen add me as a friend and PM me if you have any questions.

I'll post me latest pics soon including what I did about the tach issue.

As for me, I kinda got sidetracked, bought a 240, and now I have gobs of turbo parts laying everywhere...lol

Yeah Thanks. Now I just gotta get it in a few magazines and in some shows.
Check out the April issue of Super Street and you'll see Jame's LS1 drift car and the SR20 S2000 from JE.

More pics.
These pics are for all those who wanted to know how much lower the LSX sits in the Z engine bay. Please consider the strut bar as reference point.

Yes the Gauges do say 350Z 6.0
Yes that is a working tach with peak-and-hold + memory custom mounted (magically) in the stock location.
NO I'm not telling you how I did it.
NO JE performance doesn't know how I did it either. LOL
