Well I hosed my third gear a few weeks ago so I thought it might be time to swap out my JWT clutch for something a little stronger. I guess I was one of those fluke cases where my jwt clutch actually held my trq ratings most of the time... I'd say 8/10 times...and was the easiest clutch/flywheel combo ever to operate. Originally I wanted to run a OEM flywheel and did in fact purchase one from member BUZZFAST... only to find that the starter would not mate properly w/ the flywheel and the car would not turn over. My friend and I removed the whole tranny again and took off the flywheel to inspect it.... WTF ? found out its not even for a Z... the way the teeth are shaped along w/ a slight diameter difference. - its for a nissan, but def not a Z.... WARNING - DO NOT purchase from this member./BAN. Now thats its 10pm we decided to do a quick resurface on the JWT flywheel I already had in there and just use that instead. So in goes the brand new tranny from Nissan, btw - it includes the shifter bracket for the 03 worries, and is already filled w/ fluid. and the new ACT clutch ( thanks Adam at Z1 - uber fast shipping as always ) and everything went together like butter. lowered the car a bit and went through all the gears to properly align the lower bracket ensuring all the gears shifted smoothly, then tightened everything down. The second time we swapped the flywheel, it only took about a hour... phew.
Driving impressions: - much more aggressive, which is what I wanted, and hopefully, once I go through the break-in miles it'll hold the trq - just fine. I wanted a clutch that worked - for a little over 520 rwh w/o selling one of my kidneys for a triple clutch. The car totally transformed into a new driving experience. This combination is def more grabbier and responsive but still a blast to drive. 1rst gear can get a little tricky, but other than that - a very quiet combination and no chatter what so ever. Teh pressure of the clutch depression literally doubled and the engagement point raised a tad - no biggie... and ahhh a new tranny - the new cd009 is nothing but silk - and my 03 goes through the gears better than it did brand new. Huge thanks to Pfunk and friend and Adam for there support.

I have a comp clutch stage 4 (6 puck sprung) and an oem flywheel.
lol, i haven't stalled it yet but i do the whole bouncing front end if i screw something up. I found that you can't really slip it. Just gotta let the clutch out and give it some gas!

Off topic Crom but does all ACT clutch kit comes with the install kit? I was going through their site and the boxes and it doesn't list it as included. Did you had to purchase your? I was planning to do my install this weekend and was wondering about it.

as a sidenote.
i'm not sure if it was my 6 puck clutch or not, but I've had mine in for a month and my hydraulic system for my clutch just went out.
The mechanic said it was due to the stiffer pressure plate. Be forwarned for future problems.

So far so good - 1rst gear is def a little tricky but you get used to it - Run it w/ the jwt fly - and it = no chatter/best response combo I've driven in.. Usually there's a tradeoff - either you get something that sounds like marbles in a tin can w/ fantastic results, or something uber street friendly thats basicially unpredictable when you push it. The carbonetics triple is the only other clutch I would run, but I thought I'd give this one a go first. Z1's got a pretty good deal on these right now. The tranny is def the best part though, I cant get over how smooth the engagement is- totally unreal. - Swapped out the factory fluid for the 50/50 redline mix as well.

What is the deal Z1 is having?
