Default Modification Plan for 2k+6 (try 2)

Hey Guys,

My other thread was closed, so trying this one instead. I have done a ton of reading, and I've come up with a list of things I'd like to do to my poor little Z (2006) to give it a bit more rounded grunt. Here's what I have in mind, comments/questions/opinions are welcome, in fact I'd like them!!

Current Choices:
- KCR TD Exhaust (HKS TD Clone)
- Kinetix High Flow CATS
- MD 5/16" 'ISO' Spacer
- Injen CAI (SP1986)

Possibles:
- UpREV Osiris
- MD MREV2
- Helix Throttle Body Spacer
- Headers (of some sort)

Do you guys think that the current choices would be enough to push out another 30bhp? I've been told on my previous thread that the MREV2, and Throttle Body Spacer are pointless, but any feedback, or suggestion on other mods are welcome F/I is not an option for me at this time.

Again, gimmie some feedback and love!

I have NISMO headers for sale at 1/2 of new if you'd like to get started on that list! (as well as a Turbo XS UTEC to help tune it afterwards)

I'd stick to a more known exhaust rather than a knockoff myself. Get a used one to save some $ - people are changing constantly.

Yeah the TB spacer and Injen CIA are nearly useless/no-to-little gains. Use a drop in filter or JWT Popcharger instead.

Get some used headers (Nismo, Crawford, DC) and a used Brand name exhaust (Stillen, HKS, etc.) and tune with Osiris.

Your list above plus these items should get you close to 30bhp at the wheels if not a little more (35-40).

GL and post results when you finish installing and dyno tune that beast

...I Dont know about all that noise... You realize BHP means at the crank, not the wheels, right?

Headers = worthless
TB spacer = worthless

Catback
tp/hfc
Injen has proved decent gains on HR
MD 5/16
MREV2
UpRev

...Is a good start.

Since he has an '06, the airbox should be easy.

To the OP. Everything that I've heard is that a spacer alone on an '06 won't give you any gains. If you go with Motordynes MREV2 then a spacer can be helpful. dikspiel's list above is essentially what I have planned. I've just installed the spacer and MREV2, I've paid for (and am waiting on) Motordyne's Single Shockwave exhaust (with the VQ exhaust for DD). Once that is installed, I'm going to go with Osiris and a professional dyno tune.

I have no plans to ever go FI and will keep my stock cats.

I would rethink this one.

Replacing with HFC/TP is one of the best things you can do...

My mistake. I read it/spit it out too fast..

I disagree. Several header companies have demonstrated decent gains (10+hp). Crawford and Nismo come to mind.

Totally agree, nearly like pulleys. Worth 1-2 hp at most.

I have most bolt-ons (Intake, Manifold, Headers, HFC, Exhaust) and a TS reflash and I dyno'd on Church's Dyno Packs at 279 ave hp and 266 ave tq SAE corrected. I believe that DynoPacks overestimate hp/tq by several percent (3-5%), lets say 265-270hp and 250-255tq corrected.
Unfortunately, I have no stock dyno so using numbers I've seen posted over the last 5 yrs, I'd estimate 225-240hp and 215-225tq on dynojets for 1-2 year old Zs.

I know it's all BS without hard numbers, but for a ballpark guess I'd say I was fairly close (±5-10%).

Just MHO...

i'm going to do a 1" drop and the front fenders are already rolled.

here is what i am planning for the wheels and tires:

19x10 +20 front with 255/35/19 tires
19x10 +20 rear with 275/35/19 tires and a 10mm spacer

i'm trying to get it as flush as possible without rubbing. i also want to make sure i dont mess up the TCS with my tire sizes. what will i need to change?

Unless you give a rip about the emissions you are producing or live in an area with emissions testing.

Understood. See, I do on both counts.

Now, a HFC would be an option for me. The problem is that they are very expensive, I've read about problems with durability, as well as problems with throwing a CEL or a "Not ready to be tested" code which would cause me to fail emissions testing.
