hi i have a 04 touring 45k miles..
when the engine is cold.. sometimes i have trouble putting the car to first gear..
i have the clutch down all the way, but then when i try to push the **** to first.. sometimes i hear a whirling noise..
do i need to change my transmission fluid?? when the car is a bit warmer.. it works better.. but its a pain to put into 1st gear some reason..

pls help

 

tranny's need to be warmed just like an engine does even when my z was new 2nd gear was a little tough on a cold start. Since your from a very cold climate I see that as being normal

 

The car is designed to operate properly at operating temperature. Once the car reaches operating temperature it should operate.

 

thanks for the response guys! now i dont have to **** my pants and freak out thinking i bought a defective Z... i got it last month and this is my first manual car..
