3.9 or 4.08 gears
my next mod i am saving up for are a set of gears. i heard alot of talk that the 4.08 gears are very diffcult setup. i am planning to have it installed at a well known performance shop near my area. is it worth getting the 4.08's or should i get the 3.9 and stay save?/

4.08's are cheaper....both equal in terms of installation. If your redline is 7000+ I say 4.08's, but if you are limited to under 7000 3.9's might be better. This is only my opinion....based on the fact that 4.08's can require a shift to 5th in the 1/4 mile. If you are basing this on "street" performance or circuit racing than the 4.08's will shine.

For that price.....................................he better be good.
Ring and pinions are a VERY tedious install and definetly require someone that has done it before, pref quite a few times.
Hope your guy knows what he is doing....
Instances of shops fuking up installs on the F/Ds are a dime a dozen, brosef.

Went with the 3.9 on the HR, paid around 500 installed.
The install should not differ between a 3.9 or 4.08. Same process just different gearing.
Might want to look into finding a pumpkin with a 3.9 or 4.08 installed already, it might be cheaper and you'll have your 3.5 to swap back in when you go TT.
