If anyone needs it .. I just found if you do a "one day free" membership / trial on the transgo website they have alot more detailed info on the valve body parts and taking it all apart

all you have to do is give them an email, validate through email, then save the three pdf files when you get to them on the website (nissan - under re5r05a)

Got all the stuff I need for the transgo kit install

had an awesome time getting fluid today from nissan ..

short version of story goes like this -

1) call nissan in morning - say quart is $10.95 and in stock
2) go to nissan - price is not 10 but $18.95 a quart
3) go back to dealership I work at and get parts lady to call nissan
4) go back to nissan and get my fluid at $8.12 / quart w/ discount and funny look on parts guys face b/c of what I did to his markup

went to napa and got me a nice funnel and torque wrench (inch pounds)

so gonna jack my car up tonight and start first thing tomorrow morning

the DIY will soon follow if everything goes to plan

if your wondering where all the nissan jacks came from .. my brother has had a few 280zx's and keeps them (or gets them from pullapart)

I had 3 of the old nissan jacks and my new one out of my car .. was going to just use them on each lift point .. but my new one doesnt go anywhere near as high as the older ones do .. so got it as high as I could and dropped it down on jack stands ..

I got the valve body hanging from two bolts .. just waiting for a few quarts to drain out and in goes the springs

I'm taking plenty of pictures .. so DIY will follow soon

dropped the pan and theres a very fine light black "sludge" / very very fine metallic sludge on the two magnets ... was like when I saw it

would that be metal / wear from a new tranny breaking in ?? (car only has 14K miles)

for anyone thinking of buying the kit ..

the instructions make it look fairly easy and simple compared to what it really is

my dad walked out and was like "WTF"

here are a few pics before I make a DIY tonight ...

I got the valve body ready to go back in .. just waiting on a allen head socket to torque a few bolts ..

oh, and I sliced the $hit out of a finger taking the vb off .. the damn filter pickup is razor sharp

the DIY will be pretty detailed and make it easy for someone to decide if they want to do this themselves or pay a shop

just got back from driving around a little

worth every penny and the cut on my finger

only issue I got right now is the fluid is a tad high (less than 1/4" above max on the dipstick)

so I'll just drain a little out tomorrow

..................

got on it a little and feels alot better .. seems to stay in the powerband more

under 3K rpm its normal .. little firmer shifts (but not noticeable) .. but over 3K

shifts are instant .. gives a little kick on each shift

I only could get on it a little b/c its raining .. couldn't keep it straight .. .. turned onto a street .. then got on it a little .. shifted down and the back kicked out .. haha

cant wait for the roads to dry out

...............

now I gotta get this DIY made .. should be fun since my cut finger is "F" on the keyboard and I cant use it to type .. but I'll manage

Good work! Now for those that are afraid of doing this themselves...there is now ZERO excuses, assuming you've got basic tools.

yep .. ive listed the tools in the DIY

I was amazed at only needing few simple tools

only "special" tools were the torque wrenches and 5mm allen head socket

inch lb torque wrench - $40 at napa (looks / works nice )

5mm allen head socket - $25 (had to buy a set at lowes, probably could order it by itself for a few dollars)

Hi,

You have a 2007 model, so you have the down shift rev matching? still there after the transgo implant? how is the downshifting, much sharper? How when you use the tiptronik?

I have a 2003 model and no down shift rev maching. How to get it? Any sugestion.

Thank you...and enjoy.

yea the downshifts are the same .. just a good bit quicker

dont really use the tiptronik much .. but only thing that changes is you get quicker and firmer shifts

downshifts are quicker .. then upshifts are quicker but smooth untill about 4K rpm then above that they get more aggressive .. get towards redline and the tires will bark during the 2 and 3rd shift (dont know about 4th)
