Thanks rr,

Your rebuild blog helped out with some things as well so thanks on that note as well.

Just when I thought I was out of the woods... I finished the motor again and now there is still a lack of power (although better) but there is now a poping backfire. The back fire is odd because is doesn't seem to increase at the same rate the revs increase. For example at idle it pops once ever 2-3 seconds and at 3000 rpms it pops at nearly the same the intervals. One good thing that has come from the re-timing is the fueling is in line and no longer dumps fuels right out of the cylinders. Also the ECU is no longer adjusting the fuel trims bank 1 and 2 show 0% adjustment.

As for the timing I thought I got it on the mark this time. Everything lined up really well and had no slack in it. I must be having a little yellow bus moment because I can't figure this out.

Your fuel trim numbers sound good! Do you have any codes now? You may have to take it for a spin if it is drivable for codes to appear.

Yeah, its still sporting a P0300 - Random multi-cylinder miss-fire. Barely drivable and it is still getting a lot of fuel directly on the cat causing it to heat up.

Ok guys,

I really did have a "Little Yellow Bus" moment and missed the correct assignment of the 4 and 6 coil harness wires. I couldn't imagine the short wire goes the longer distance but it does and it works. The sounds great and runs really smooth. So after about 20-30 extra hours of work I find that it could have easily been corrected in 10 mins. That's the way it goes. I'm happy and thanks for the help.

The Finished Project...

Too bad the coil packs are not clearly numbered from the factory. I will definitely put labels on mine before I pull them off again. Glad you got it to work, but that was a lot of extra work!

Yeah I thought you meant something else but you hit on the head all along. Thanks for the input.

I think mine used to have those tags but heat and time have made them useless.
