3 Nissan dealers later.. NO ONE knows the problem... HELP!
they remind me of 03-05 OEM, but LED. the LED cluster is clean looking and there is one parobolic cone per LED, 20 of them to be exact. the lens is all red and they're not tinted
also, i do not like the look of the OEM LED tails, call me crazy, but i think they look like a mess compared to those above. the 2 or 3 LED cluster per cone ruins the tails for me...

Ive had them for over a year, and as for the tails themselves, ive no problems whatsoever. Fittment will be ok, holes are just alittle off, and stock circle bolt cover caps wont fit in them either. The pin that slides in the hole on the sides doesnt lock into place, so they stick out mm's on the sides.
LED's never went out, worked fine. PLENTY bright and when brake is pressed, the difference is huge, they get MUCH brighter.
However, i had the issues Vas had, but it sounds like not as extreme. Just shotty engine performance and inconsistent acceleration/deceleration. On some days drove great, other days acceleration was sluggish and jerky. I just never attributed this to the taillights until i took them off and the car has driven better consistently so far with a very noticeable difference.
FYI. But this problem is not accross the board, so give them a shot, it wont hurt to try.
Also, please keep us updated on what happens. Hopefully yours work fine and in harmony with car, but if not, some more substance to our claims of shotty performance would be nice.

And btw, i feel the same way about the 06+ OEMs, I like these better, the LEDS are singles and cleaner and not paired up like stocks.

I have the IDENTICAL tails you gave me the link to, and judging by the price, you will be getting the same brand as me as well, Eagle Eyes.

They may look the same, but they could be from different manufactures. Mine say made in Taiwan... no branding that I can see. Also, LED technology has made huge strides since 2005, which kind of sucks, because that's when my tails were manufactured.
BTW, I went to light fair international in Vegas this year and saw a 15w LED in one of the booths. It was as if I was looking into the sun, lol! I would say 75% of the show was new LED technologies, everyone is trying to get in the game. I saw some pretty amazing stuff

I'll post back here with the results.

vas...
what did you end up doing in regards to the tail light situation? what do you currently have installed?
OEM (incandescent) tail lights?
OEM (LED) tail lights?
aftermarket (LED) tail lights with proper resistor?
i'm curious, because i'm getting ready to install some aftermarket LED tails and wondering if i'll run into similar problems. my manufacturing date on the tails is 11/05 and this is the where i got them...
http://stores.ebay.com/mmmotorsco
i've already tested them with the car (off), these LED tails have a large difference between dim/bright or on/brake mode. i mention this because some individuals have complained of having to little difference in brightness. i don't know, maybe poor quality on the circuit board, poor LED's or both!?
my Z is an 04.5 - 6mt and no VDC, it's a base model. so this test will be interesting... based on what others have reported. i guess i'll do it somewhere remote, just in case my car blows up, lol! i still find this all a little concerning, what if your brake light goes out, is the car going to take off like a Toyota, jk!?

TO EVERYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM :
Yes its the tails, You have to get a resistor and put it in ( I got mine off ebay ).. MAKE SURE YOU RESET YOUR ECU after all is done. The computer is not going to learn it by it self.. so bottom line.
Tails > resitors > reset ecu > enjoy.
PM me if you got issues.
Vas,
So I can assume you retained your aftermarket TL's and installed a resistor to correct the problem, right? What resistor did you get off ebay? Thanks...
I ask because at this point I’m not certain how just one resistor can correct the problem when there are two filaments within the 7443 lamp. (5/21w)
When the tail light is on the lamp continuously draws 5 watts and the brake lamp (when applied) draws 21 watts. This power consumption is then checked by the system (BCM?), then translated by the ECU as OK. This is why I’m installing two resistors... one for the RL and one for the BL. reference post #35 if you like...

my car is also doing the same thing i replaced the knock sensor but im still getting a p0327 low input knock sensor before when i cleared the code the car would haul and as soon as the ecu picks up the code it falls flat again now the code returns as soon as i clear it i have a brand new knock sensor from nissan installed and everything nissan.com says only 03 zs and gs have the harness extention my car is an 04 the harness is tied in with injector plugs
any ideas im open to anything text anytime if possible 386-561-1735 florida

Thanks to 06blueZ sounds like you guys can help
I'm having the same issue as the OP.
I'm going to check my bulbs.
I was thinking of making my own sub harness for the knock sensor with rg142 coax.
It will never melt unless the car burns
I'll report back what I find
