Default Oil cooler and warranty?

New 08 Z owner here, just read about the ubiquitous oil cooling issues with the VQs on track and pretty bummed about it, I was trying to make a track day soon but reading about all the high oil temp issues has freaked me out a bit so I started looking at oil coolers and am trying to figure something out before it. My concern is that it'll void warranty and Nissan will use it as an excuse to not cover something if anything does go wrong. Anyone here have experience with an oil cooler and warranty? TIA.

You have nothing to worry about - it's the 370 engine that's having temperature problems on the track, not the 350.

Adding an oil cooler in itself will not affect your warranty. Now if you have some major catastrophic engine failure and it oil pressure related, chances are pretty good Nissan will point a finger at you installation of the oil cooler. For them to deny warranty coverage, they'd have to prove the oil cooler was the problem. So unless there is a problem with the oil cooler or its installation, you have nothing to worry about.

If you just taking your 350 out for a track day, you don't need an oil cooler anyway. You might want one if you're doing some serious racing.

Better not take the car to the track. It will surely blow-up!

I thought it was the HR's to that had the oil temp issue , 07-08 and 370Z are all HR's. Well oil cooler doesn"t hurt much at all, if you have any problems , you can always remove it before you bring the car in.

Doesn't hurt to add an oil cooler! Will only prolong the life of the engine... Oil over heat issues are on the VQ37VHR engine.

No serious racing, just a track day here and there. The car will remain mostly stock with street tires. But I did read that there were serious problems with the VQ35 motors as well. If there's no need then I will not bother.

haha, I know. With all the accounts of really high oil temps and Sport Compact Car's article on the temperature sensitive bearings and their prone to failure before the oil even reaches critical temperature has me a little Normally I'm not big on taking what magazines write, but Kojima knows his Nissans and there has been a ton of reported issues with oil temps here.

That is a cool site. I was under the impression that the VQ35HR had oil cooling issues also. Is there a consensus here? I would not want to spend unnecessary money and mod unnecessarily but $400 insurance seems worth it for a $20,000+ car.

Nope, that's all 370 related.
