Default Transmission Issue - Need advice/help

I have an 03 touring model that I picked up this summer. When I bought the car initially, I had to do a few grands worth of reviving including a clutch / flywheel plate change as they were shot.

The issue I am having now is that I've noticed it happens sometimes quite often that when I'm shifting from fourth to fifth (only this sequence), I have a slight grind and then it goes in. It happens mostly if I am shifting quickly, but I tested it a few times doing extremely slow shifts (holding clutch for a full 2 seconds before shifting) and it occurs as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions as what might be causing the problem , and a suggestion as to how to fix it? Any advice would much be appreciated. Thanks

synchro/ fork issue is most likely. Nissan repair guidelines state its best just to replace with the CD009 (i just did this a week ago). if you're not under an extended warranty, u can look into getting a rebuild which would probably be more cost effective.

hey man i had that exact problem...4-5th grind... what he said^ above. It's the synchro, I got it checked out. Your four options are :
1) Get a rebuild at a trustworthy shop that will work on just replacing synchros(probably the cheapest)
2)Buy a full new transmission maybe at a place like z1auto.com for 2,000 and get it installed for about 1000.( Probably the best problem solver due to the fact that they have the updated trans without all these problems)
3)Shop around and find a used trans for about 400-700 and have that installed ( there are good ones out there)
4) double clutch and live with it (i did that for about 2 years until it was unbareble, then went with a used trans that doesn't grind anymore)

Good luck! i know that grind is f**king anoying, especially from 4-5th

I've got a feeling my 03 will probably run int this eventually as well. Nothing present yet, but seems most have the issue.

Is a rebuild cheaper than sourcing a CD009?
