Default Need to replace engine, will a G35 Coupe Motor Be a Direct Swap?

Hey guys, I picked up an 03 Z that needs a new motor. Anyway, I've had trouble finding a decent 350z motor for a good price. Will a 2003 G35 coupe motor fit without problems? Will it be a direct swap, regarding any wiring/sensor hook ups? Is the power output the same? Thanks in advance.

Everything is the same. both cars have to be mt or auto. Theres only 3 variations of the vq at least in the G and Z. DE, revup, almighty hr.

FYI this motor in the G is rated at 280HP vice 287 for soem reason. But i'm pretty sure it's the way the G computer is tuned, not the engine. So i'd imagine as long as you are still using your Z computer, then you should be ok as far as power output is concerned.

I was under the impression that the transmission doesn't matter?

You will have to swap

Wiring Harness
AC Compressor
Oil pressure senor

Everything else is direct swap

This is assumming you are not trying to swap a Revup motor into a DE car

Thank you, looks like I should be able so save a few $100 going with the G35 motor then. Just to confirm, does the transmission matter?

He's not puttign a rev up in. He's doing a DE -> DE swap. One for one. Except the donor motor is out of a G not a Z of the same year.

No. A 5AT motor will have a adapter(not sure the technical name) mounted on the crank for the flexplate but it can be removed.

Hi there i wanted to know if the VQ35 short block from a 04 g35 coupe will go into a 03 g35 sedan. I was told that I need to replace the engine because of a compression issue.
